if you picked one of the bottom two answers on today's POTD, what publishers are you boycotting?

for me, it's EA. they don't really make games i'm interested in, but even if they did i wouldn't support them. DLC for DLC and loot box gambling being essential for victory? no thanks, there's other publishers to get games from.

EA the most heinous of super villain hideouts
Blizzard... i still hold blizzard and activision as different companies even if they aren't
bethesda... mostly for some sketchy business practices in recent times

EA. Because they no longer distribute games through Steam. There's no way in heck I'm installing TWO game distribution apps.

I've never played any Mass Effect past 2. I'd be happy to give them money for 3, but I will never install Origin.

If a good game comes out I'll get it, but I don't want to actively throw my money at certain companies who engage in practices I dislike. Ubisoft, Activision, EA, Konami, and Capcom have all pissed me off at various times over the last several years.

Never is a strong word.

But I actively try to never give EA, Activision-Blizzard (use the full name, damn it, stop giving "Blizzard" a pass), 2K, and Warner Bros. money. Whether it's not buying, or if I must...getting it used.

Bethesda, Ubisoft, and Konami are not quite at that level of hate, but I don't care for them much anymore, either.

Those aren't necessarily the same thing. Refusing to buy from a certain publisher isn't usually to boycott them for most people, but just not wanting to buy games you don't like.

EA and SOE are the only ones on my complete blacklist (does SOE even exist anymore?)

I'm very leery about buying anything from Capcom these days. They seem adamantly opposed to doing anything that might make their fans happy and have criminally mismanaged virtually all of their best franchises into the ground. Blizzard, as well, thanks to the always-online D3 fiasco. Those two, however, are not flat-out boycotted and if they made a game that looked interesting enough to me, I'd buy it.

What's wrong with Capcom?

Butchered Mega Man and pretty much everything related to it (Mega Man X, Mega Man Legends 3); refused to translate Ace Attorney Investigations 2; axed all of the non-English translations of the Ace Attorney games and moved to digital-only releases outside of Japan despite huge and widespread fan requests for a physical release (initially claiming that it was due to low sales then, when AA5 sold well and exceeded their self-admitted "aggressive" sales targets, kept future games digital-only seemingly just to dick with people); is one of the worst companies for nickle-and-diming customers with DLC, going so far as to charge $6 for a set of palette swaps (not new costumes but literal recolouring of already-existing costumes) in Street Fighter III: Third Strike (with the kicker being that said swaps are only visible to others who have bought the DLC).

I could go on, but yeah, Capcom seems to take particular delight in being petty assholes to their fans. Which is a shame because I love their games and they were a huge part of my childhood.

I don't think they could do Strike again. Those games would be awful with modern day graphics and gameplay.

Wait, XSeeD ran an MMO? What was it called? I tried Googling it and came up with nothing.

Something about that doesn't sound right, they're a pretty small company and they peddle pretty much exclusively in localizing other people's games. Running an MMO sounds like it would be beyond their capabilities.
