Important Stuff First Off...

Earlier this week, I said I wasn't able to host the tournament due to the business of my life lately. After further thought, for the most part, I still have time at the end of the day to post a new topic for the next set of matches. Just be aware that there will most likely be an intermission between February 5th and February 10th, as I will be nowhere near a computer for those days.

I appreciate MWC's dedication and willingness to take over, but maybe I have a little more time left to do a few more. That being said...

Nominations are simple
1. You have 15 nominations.
2. You can nominate almost any game released in North America in 2017
3. Exceptions to rule #2 are games that simply had polished HD releases. For example, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Yakuza Kiwami and Metroid: Samus Returns are acceptable for nomination, meanwhile the PS4 HD release of Okami, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are not acceptable. The remastered Crash Bandicoot titles are up for debate, though I'm leaning more toward not allowing them in.
4. Three nominations will guarantee that a game gets in, but feel free to use a nomination on a game that's already in to boost its seeding.
5. We probably won't have 64 games to get 3 nominations each, so eventually after a set period of time, whatever games have 2 nominations will get in also, they will obviously be seeded lower.
6. I'll probably be allowing more than 15 nominations if we don't make it to 64 games with either 3 or 2 nominations.

Small analysis on some of the games already in...

Nier Automata - When Nier came out in 2010, it only managed to get a #6 seed but put on a great run to the elite eight before bowing out to eventual champion Super Mario Galaxy 2. In said loss, however, Nier performed better against Galaxy 2 than any of Mario's other opponents that weren't named Mass Effect 2. Now with a higher following and an all around better game, Automata has a chance to be the first Square game to win one of these.

Persona 5 - While the fighting games haven't done so good, the Persona RPG titles have mostly been successful in these tournaments (P2 excluded). Persona 3 made the semifinals in 2007, and then Persona 4 won the 2008 tournament. P5 is heavily liked on here and has a chance to get the series its second title.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Because the LAW theory can't be avoided on Board 8! The Zelda series is highly regarded on here and the tournaments show proof as well, with a championship win by ALBW in 2013, final four appearances by Majora's Mask and Skyward Sword, and elite eight appearances by Twilight Princess and Wind Waker. Breath of the Wild is raking in GotY titles across the world, so there's enough reason to believe it can win here as well!

Resident Evil 7 - Resident Evil's resume's not too bad for direct titles. RE2 made the elite eight for the 1998 tournament, RE5 made the final four in the 2009 tournament, and of course RE4 won the 2005 tournament almost with absolute ease.

Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon - Pokemon has had one of the better performances as a whole in this tournament, at least as far as direct titles go. RBY won 98, GSC won 2000, and Black/White 2 made the semifinals in 2012. On top of that, Sun/Moon in the 2016 tournament lost in OT to Dark Souls III when DS3 got the game-winning vote from FFD in the last 8 seconds of regulation. There's reason to believe that Ultra S/M will attempt to seek redemption here.

Super Mario Odyssey - Mario's performances have hardly disappointed (handheld titles excluded). Both Galaxy games won their tournaments in 2007 and 2010. Mario 3D World made the semifinals in 2013. Even Sunshine made the semifinals in 2002 (note, I like it, just not as much as other Mario games). And if/when I run the Best Game of 1996 tournament, I'm 99% certain the finals are going to be Mario 64 vs. Mario RPG.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - Not a big favorite to make a deep run with its latest entry, but Uncharted as a whole has done extremely well on Board 8. After a second round exit by Drake's Fortune in 2007, Uncharted hit it out of the park with a championship win by Uncharted 2 in 2009, followed by a finals appearance by Uncharted 3 in 2011 and a semifinal appearance by Uncharted 4 in 2016.

And the last two worth bringing up for now are Metroid and Life is Strange. Metroid Prime won the 2002 contest when it defeated Kingdom Hearts in overtime, while MP3 and Zero Mission made the elite eight in their respective contests in 2007 and 2004. Life is Strange made the final four in 2015 after getting a huge upset over The Witcher III, the universal 2015 GotY itself.
