Also I am pretty sure implied insult was indeed moddable, like it was one of the examples given of what is flaming for as long as I've been on the site. Not that me saying this I suspect would matter to anyone deadset on the contrary when even an admin saying that didn't get through.

Posting hate speech based on race has been and still is against the Terms of Use. If you're reporting racist posts that aren't being deleted by all means contact me privately about it and I'll look into it. If you aren't reporting it, dunno what you're expecting us to do.

Edit: Probably don't need to spell this out, but the mods have been told not to use NWDs in regards to hate speech.

I know its too much to expect you to know everything that goes on here, but I think this really downplays the level of the problems here. If you google gamefaqs current events, the third suggestion after regular old gamefaqs current events and gamefaqs current events archive is gamefaqs current events racism. The board is pretty known for being like this. The mods are often pretty lax on dealing with stuff like diet racism and trolls skirting the boundaries on intolerance, and it allows that kind of posting to proliferate.

As annoying as it is to see literally everyone being called a cuck, soyboy, snowflake, etc, I just find this policy doesnt really take the steps other communities are taking to try and make gaming more inclusive. No one wants to be called a name, but also Ive seen that one Jewish caricature more here than anywhere else in my life, and Id much rather be called a cuck in than see that go unmodded again. Id just like to feel like gamefaqs actually cares about the comfort of some of its minority populations, rather than expecting them to just toughen up, shake off the bigotry, and move on.

Lol yeah. He deletes the posts after someone else posted which leads to a pages where 1/4 of the posts are deleted

At this point I'd say as long as they are not continually being the only person bumping the thread and are actually having some sort of a discussion I don't see there being anything to really do with them anymore. If a topic of yours is being bumped like that I'd recommend just closing it after it's been 5 minutes without a post if you so desire.

I'm really not sure where this notion keeps coming from that not tolerating namecalling is a kiddy kind of deal. Like, what planet do you live on where you experience more rampant namecalling in adulthood than in childhood?

When I was a kid I and everyone else got called names all the time and nothing was ever done about it. Then people grow up and people don't do that shit anymore.

You got it backwards.

A site that lets every topic derail into petty pissy namecalling is a hell of a lot more childish than one that tries to stop it.

Is there a distinction made in flaming between saying something someone said is dumb, and calling them dumb?

Like if someone said "I think Zelder is a pretty cool guy eh saves the princess and flies around on a boat" and someone else, unmoved by this brilliant, timeless joke, said "What? No that's dumb" would that be treated as a flame just the same as if they said "You're dumb!"?

Could a modmin chime in on this? It's something I've actually been curious about for awhile, and this seems like the best time to get clarification.

Sometimes old topics form a little community, that's fine.

Side note, once you've cleaned all the junk ads from the site, make an announcement and I'll disable my adblocker here. I'd like to support the site by allowing ads, but each time I come here on mobile my browser is inevitably hijacked or something else stupid happens, which is why I use adblock in the first place (and don't browse on mobile). I'd be fine with ads here if they were nonintrusive and could be trusted not to do anything suspicious.

We're (royal we, CBSi) working on this, actually. With the upcoming Chrome changes, everyone has to.

Flaming will no longer be defined by how "bad" the flame is. If you are name calling, you will be moderated for flaming if reported (unless it's very clearly in jest). "Light flames" will no longer be a thing. No name calling, period. We will generally start with NWD on flames unless you're using seriously offensive flames in which case you'll probably be moderated for Offensive instead anyway.

If a certain bunch of users constantly harass me by calling me an alt, despite me proving Im not, could that count as flaming/harassment? They all use some form of HeyJohnHothlin, HothlinHey, Hothlin, or some variation of calling me a shitposting alt. I have asked them to stop calling me an alt and detailing my topics but they have only intensified their behavior. I would just like to know what could be done about this.
