it is positive tbh. if someone is an awful person it is easy to demonstrate through their own posts and through reasoning and debate. if you can't do that you probably aren't worth listening to.

Implied insults have always been flames. A very similar case is used in the example in the ToU.

That isn't how moderation works here (or anywhere else). If a post doesn't bother anyone enough to report them, there isn't any point in deleting the post. We don't moderate for funsies, we moderate because someone's post is interrupting the experience for another user.

Is there a distinction made in flaming between saying something someone said is dumb, and calling them dumb?

Like if someone said "I think Zelder is a pretty cool guy eh saves the princess and flies around on a boat" and someone else, unmoved by this brilliant, timeless joke, said "What? No that's dumb" would that be treated as a flame just the same as if they said "You're dumb!"?

I think you may be confused, andei-person.

A common thing that isn't considered flaming, is targetting someone's opinion rather than the person.

Saying someone is dumb is flaming them.

Saying someone is acting dumb is flaming them.

Telling someone that pushing Bikini Bottom somewhere else to avoid Alaskan Bull-Worms is a dumb idea, that's not flaming, because you're targetting the idea, not the person.
