Not now, but I wish I had the option when I was 12 and up through high school, maybe into my early 20s. Sometimes wonder how much different my life couldve turned out.

Hmm....hard to say.

I grew up with a big family; 4 siblings with mum and dad.

Right now, I live alone and I love the independence. However I do miss living with my parents at times; my mum's cooking and great conversations with my dad. I miss waking up to a noisy home; always lively with buzzing activity and idle chatter! Also, I just miss being in that cocoon of protection and comfort. Reminiscing on how childhood life is; where there's no future but the afternoon. :))

Buuuuut.

I like my independence. When you live under your parents' roof, you must abide by their rules. You also can't show any form of aggression or sarcasm. By being under their roof, you basically revert back into a child. Different opinions will clash; discussions on how things are/should be managed at home can turn into an argument. And parents can be overbearing at times. They tend to lecture and sometimes pry into your personal and professional life which you may not be ready for (especially after a stressful day at work).

The opposite is also true. Living with loved ones can provide you the emotional support that everyone needs from time to time. You may gain some insight on how life is and how you'd want to live it from listening to there words of wisdom or just by idly chatting with them.

For me, though, I'd visit often and probably spend a weekend or two at their place, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Well it's not a big deal living with my dad as we half bills, he does his thing I do mine and it's much cheaper however I'd much rather have my own place, my own independence and the freedom to do mostly whatever I want it said place. Not that I'm limited in what I can do at my dads. Not only that but if he dies I'd be screwed. Got to get myself a job before I move out though.

I lived with my parents while I saved up money to buy a house.

We got along reasonably well and it meant I didn't have to pay rent while I was saving up, so it worked out pretty well.

For as long as your entitled to it. The government however does send you on
college courses(nothing noteworthy admittedly) and at times work placements for several months so while I have been unemployed for some time I've also been doing college during that time. My last job ended at the start of 2015.

I didn't mind it in college, but that was probably because my dad was working 2 jobs at the time, so he was only home for a few hours a night before going to bed. Then on weekends he would be out in his workshop most of the day and only came in the house for food and sleep. So essentially I was living alone.

Once my dad started his own business and was in the house most of the time though, then I was ready to leave. Considering I have a nicer home then my dad does I don't think I would be moving back in with him.

Not a degree no but it does improve your skills and you get a certificate. Nothing fancy but better than nothing. It's not like actually attending real college and being able to pick something that'll benefit you however some folk that claim JSA are less skilled for the lack of a better term so eh I guess it helps some people. I've actually found myself helping some folk who are less skilled use computers and the like too.

The government probably does pay the college for use of the building, equipment and whatnot. I don't know the specifics.

With my mother? Sure, if she were still alive I might happily live with her, for a while at least, as she and I were nearly best friends throughout my teens and I miss her very much.

With my father? Not a cat in hell's chance of that. He was abusive in various ways when my sister and I did live with him, and I can barely tolerate visiting him in his own home for 3 days at a time, even with my really nice stepmother around. He's in the process of gradually drinking himself to death no matter what anybody who actually gives a damn about him says to him about it, but he always was selfish.

My stepmother's planning to move closer to me (with my younger brother) when she's able, so I might be up for living with her again for a few months, if she needed me to.

In general though, I tend to do better living by myself and having someplace I can retreat when I get overwhelmed or excessively wound up. Well, by myself without other humans at least. I like having cats around. (I miss my little tortoiseshell lady terribly still: she died of cancer in March and I am not at all adjusted to her absence yet.)

I am indifferent. I live wherever it is convenient for work and my other activities. My mom's place is relatively centralized between work, Boy Scouts, and all my other friends.

Would I move out if money was not an issue? No. Some of the house maintenance can only be done by me and being 75 years old, my mother occasionally need my help with some stuff. My mother and I have had our differences and arguments in the past but more often than not it is just due to some misunderstanding and me being an idiotic son.

Around 73 now but yeah. It certainly helps but despite what a lot of peoples views are on the unemployed it's certainly not a lifestyle I'd prefer. I can understand somewhat those who claim others benefits and get more than they would working but JSA alone is about a day and half of work so really nothing to write home about nor should it be otherwise nobody would work.

Agreed. Haha.....But it really depends on the people one lives with. There are some who are soooooooo attuned to sarcasm they can hear it in their sleep. My dad's like that; unfortunately. So I need to be neutral and chirpy at all times or risk offending him or upsetting him. Especially true as he got older.

EDIT: At times, petty arguments aren't worth it. It only serves to aggravate and strain relationships. As my parents got older (I as well), I learned to be more patient with them. It's not about winning every discussion or proving oneself as all-knowing. It's all about enjoying their company while we can.
