I forgot because I ran through that room every time after I got the treasure in the chest

(also that first stairwell has like the perfect annoyances to block you from just blitzing towards the first bellmaiden, I feel)

Ah yes, bolting past those enemies to get to the bell bitch is always a hassle. That whole area is quite the spike in difficulty.

As for Cainhurst, you can do it whenever you feel. I don't know what level you're at, but by this point in the game you should be able to tackle that area without too much trouble. The boss will be a challenge, but I believe in you.

didnt play much today
explored as much of the Unseen village as possible
I feel sorry for the petrified villagers, not so much the bagmen lying dead and giving me bloodchunks

and came across a nasty trio of hunters, and I didnt feel like taking all three of them on at the same time
I tried to separate them but they always came at me all three at a time
so instead, remembering the layout, I took a third entrance from the outside, through the prison area and passed the ugly wolfbeast
stabbed the whipguy in the back, fought him a bit and killed him before the other two could get in my way.
then I visceral'd the flamespewer and focused on him before his friend could come in from all the way where he was
and eventually fought the third guy, just back and forth dodge/slashing

bit cheap maybe, but it worked

then I realized there was that one door I never opened in the healing workshop basement and found the abandoned workshop (after many trial and error death falls)
and I got the clearly best outfit <.< >.>

also I got the upper cathedral key and unlocked that area too, in case anyone was wondering

There's a good rune you can get early in the upper cathedral ward.

Good job taking out those three hunters, you pretty much figured out the optimal strategy. I still have trouble taking all three on, I tried the other day and killed one, then died, killed another, died again and finally slayed the last one.

Impressed you found the abandoned workshop as well.

If you wait to do it at endgame you don't get as much time with the DLC weapons.

I did a suicide run into the DLC to pick up as much as I could right after Amelia when I went back to the game for the DLC. Had a lot of fun trashing certain main game bosses with the Pizza Cutter.

Making suicide runs the moment you can do the dlc is nice in replays when you know where to go.

The first half of the dlc is definitely worth doing once you beat Rom, since you're probably at an appropriate level by then.

I have a new nemesis
and they like to make me stupid, goodbye insight by the dozens
Those damn brainsuckers and their new capture spell, especially in tight corners
I had to bolt it several times just to open the doors because I was tired of fighting them. And then i could sneakattack them when I came back from death
they deserve no fair play those bastards

Meanwhile at least I made all the progress in Yahargul. Battled One Reborn and beat him in one turn. For such an awesome design, setup and theme, kindof a letdown.
Of course I did remove the bellmaidens above, and I took some damage simply while trying to find the stairs (this acid clips through the pillars way too treacherously)

So I unlocked the 2nd floor of the lecture hall (I knew those giant stomping sounds werent me going crazy) and the Nightmare of Mensis. Where I nearly died from frenzy for some reason

Yeah, for some reason

One Reborn is super easy, and I think it's because he's so big. Which is probably the reason there isn't as many giant bosses in Bloodborne, like there are in Dark Souls. I find that a shame because I actually like fighting One Reborn just for the fact that he's huge.

Yeah if you're making progress through the first DLC area, you're basically strong enough for anything in the main game.

I started a new game on Saturday and made a strength build, focusing on the Kirkhammer. Ol' Kirky was crushing everything, then I attempted the first DLC boss while underleveled and was ram-rodded like ten times in a row.

Is that the hardest boss in the game in everyone's opinion? I think the only one in contention is the secret DLC boss.

I don't know if he's harder than the final boss of the dlc, I'd have to fight them again to really get an opinion since I don't have as much experience with the last dude

Currently I'm getting all of my characters to the same point, which include my new character with the holy blade, my girl with the kirkhammer, and my gentleman with the pimp cane because I was never good at using that weapon but I'm finally getting the hang of it

And it's a damn blast, I love the cane now

Martyr Logarius
is dead

It took me four attempts. I dont know if I waited too long, (or that I knew beforehand that you could destroy the swords he plants on the roof) but the fight itself was still tense regardless
Round one was okay, getting to him while dodging his skull flames was the biggest issue and later he pulled out that massive homing explosion that I didnt expect but luckily was far away from to survive the first impact
(and after that I just ran straight towards him as he was charging it)
Death one was him catching me off guard with that after-effect slash his scythe does
Death two was me backing off too much and falling off the rooftop -.-
Death three was just not quick enough with the vials (or too reckless, your call)
Round four I managed to get some hits in as he was charging his attacks and his formchange (no viscerals though, I assume you can parry him too)
Then in his second form I just side/backstepped like a madman whenever he did a combo and ran in with my own combo when he put the sword down. (hitting him and destroying the sword at the same time)

...
Oh and I also killed Celestial Emissary, but thats a boss hardly worth talking about except that I dont know how you're supposed to tell at first which one is the real one..

I've fought Logarius several times over the last few days, with my multiple characters. I love fighting him, but my favorite was using the pimp cane because it was more of a challenge. I died a few times, but then I'll Make a Man Out of You started playing and it gave me the strength to overcome. My final attack was right on the "be a man!" line, so I felt pretty cool.

Also when he's charging his one big explosion (or even his glowy balls of death, if you're close enough) you can easily get in some backstabs, he leaves himself wide open. Then you avoid any damage from those attacks.

a bit, yeah. they provide a % based damage reduction after your defense stat is applied. you'll only see a huge difference in the most extreme cases (like going from 5% bolt resist to 30% bolt resist). for the most part just wear whichever outfits you think look cool.

So the first boss of the dlc isn't too bad. I beat him easily with my holy blade and saw cleaver characters, took me a few tries with the pimp cane but still not that tough. However I'm having some difficulty with my kirkhammer girl, moves too slow. Using the sword instead of hammer works a lot better at least, since faster weapons are just much more effective against him... but I really want the satisfaction of smashing his face in with a giant mallet.

I should do a weapon ranking

well I almost completed Nightmare of Mensis
beat that Micolash guy in one go, dangerous with the spells, annoying with the running and puppet spawning distracting my lockons, but not too hard
continued and eventually found a way passed the boars and the shadow-like guys (that quartet is a pain, but I find it very fun to invite the boars into their party)
I did look something up because I heard about this too beforehand, how to get to the Brain of Mensis, drop it down the tower and then get to kill it...
after making contact and getting the final moon rune of course
