I just died to those guys a couple times as well. The first time was immediately, the second time was when they were one hit away from death.

yeah there's one spot that is completely safe from attacks. if you look up at the meteors during the fight they always come from the same direction. this should give you an idea of which side of the statue you need to be on to block them.

You can also hide in the doorway opposite the one you came in IIRC.

oh yeah? that seems convenient too.

the main reason I like the statue spot is because sometimes the guys actually stand near it and you can attack them. whenever they are channeling the meteors they won't do anything else. makes them pretty much sitting ducks.

before I tried anything else I went back to the cathedral to help Eileen one last time
I dont how challenging this one hunter is normally, but he gave me a run for my money several times
usually it was a sudden salvo of bullets that did me in, had to be pretty much running/sidestepping at all times to survive
hit and run tactics worked the best, stayed away from him as long as he was bleeding himself out
thankfully he only has one vial
after five or so deaths, I managed to lure him down the stairs where he couldnt back away from me so much
as revenge he nailed me with a numbing mist, so I had to make sure to not let up
The Crow of Cainhurst is dead now, whew

also I made my way to wherever Ludwigs area is.
where I thought he was going to be was instead the Vicar arena, but that boss isnt awake yet (I am glad about that, by the sound of this thread)
the worst enemy in Hunters Nightmare so far is the fire-axe hunter. He just refuses to lose poise

Bloody Crow of Cainhurst is the hardest boss in the game

Although I found out the pimp cane is real effective against him

yeah sawcleaver just wasnt good enough for the wide open area when he gets that nifty teleport to escape my attacks
ludwigs blade was used a lot too in that fight
I did get a bloodrock, (one of apparently few in the game unless you farm insight), but I am not sure if I should use it yet

that nifty teleport is something you can get from the source of the dream

but i think you need 15 arcane for it

And obviously his doesn't have a time limit to it



Also imo the two best bosses are the last two in the dlc

It has the same time limit for him. But since he has infinite bullets and it's a trivial cast time, he'll have it on 90% of the time.

Also you can use your blood rock on your holy blade if you plan on sticking with it, since you've been building your character around that weapon anyway. You get one more blood rock in the dlc then you can either buy one or two more for like 60 insight (ridiculous) or if you decide to take on the chalice dungeons, you'll be able to farm them once you get much deeper into those.

Ludwig
Ludwig is insane...
and still not dead btw

His first form. I just cant seem to get a read on him or his moves, and I managed to fight through the first phase a handful of times.. but I cant do it consistently.
I mean I have fought him enough to know how to perfectly dodge his first lunge, but after that.
There is no pattern to what he will do when he jumps up, that stronger lunge he has just seems straight up unfair, I cant always sidestep his clawswipes and his bite attack sometimes gets me in an inlucky spot
about the only breather is his wimpy headbutt and his acid spit

second form is easier compared to that
but by the time I reach him, my hands are so numb I just choke
first time I reached this phase, I just wasnt used to his swipes, another time I didnt vial up in time, another time I didnt expect that onehitkill blast (which I can at least avoid)
the fourth time I just didnt stay close enough to him, the fifth time I didnt realize one of his swings has a backwards hitbox x.x
I find Ludwigs Blade helps more against his first form, to interrupt him. And Saw Cleaver did more for the second, since I cant seem to break Ludwigs concentration at all anymore in that form

he definitely feels doable, but exhausting and unpredictable

now I am just farming for blood echoes in Mensis to restock my vials at a comfortable 600
also I got the third umbilical cord and helped alfred kill a queen, so at least something happened today

I didn't really have one. I used the cane, and dodged a ton. I don't really remember much because it wasn't a particularly memorable fight for me. Sorry!

Although holy blade works too (also with fire paper), both have a splendid ability to stagger his bitch ass

I can't take many of these kills serious die to item usage. What serious gamer uses items to kill bosses. It is like cheating.

but honestly, fire paper didnt change much for me when its more about actually getting hits in, rather than how much the hits do
his head is obviously the weak spot and as with all horses, dont stand behind them too often

I don't really view buff items in Soulsborne games as off limits, even though I rarely use them (often because I'll spec for a casting buff). I share your items viewpoint more for stuff like Holy Water in DMC.

I view it that way in general. Howevwr I also moreso here do because I feel they are supposed to be trial and error limited inventory items but that idea gets kinda broken when u are researching bosses to know how to beat them beforehand and what they are weak to.

I wouldn't say it's cheating, if it's part of the game and you wanna use it then go for it. Although I only use buffs, and only when I know it won't go to waste. I don't touch any of the other nonsense items.

And I say use fire paper on Ludwig because the increased damage means he staggers more, but as you said you need to be able to hit him consistently... In the head.

Man I can't wait to see you one shot the final boss

I could probably fight the pre-final boss though and Hunters mark out
or buy one of those devices that lets me backup my save

I found the pre final boss to be far more difficult than the true final boss.

The final boss of the DLC took me a good 40-50 tries, some of which were with help.

For comparison, Ludwig took me 3 without.

Yeah I can pretty easily beat Ludwig now, but the last guy still kicks my ass

well I beat Ludwig at last
didnt use any fire paper either(never got around to it)
I did buy a new bloodrock with 60 insight to upgrade my cleaver top +10, because I found that weapon to far more useful against Ludwigs second form, where I could just walk up to him and keep slashing to stagger and eventually visceral him. then get even more hits in while he was wasting time blasting the other side of the room

also I dont know how much it matters but I did add two better gems to Ludwigs blade

it only took me three tries this time, and I was just mostly experimenting too to see what weapons worked best
the first form was still tricky, but I lucked out that he used his acidspit twice instead of his more dangerous moves like the bite
but even then I'd fought him so often the first day, I could predict his first few opening moves every times and his second form is epiclooking (and sounding) but somehow underwhelming after that crazy first phase. I can see why some people find him easy

of course knowing the rest of the DLC by infamy, farming for 600 bloodvials isnt so silly

also I beat Mergos Wet Nurse.. what an odd boss, no music at all
not tough by this point, sadly, but annoying during that phase where it goes dark and keeps slashing with its own blades and with a clone
