Banner 3 is pretty damn good but a lot of the relics on there people will have already pulled hard for. All 4 bursts are really really good. OSB's are only okayish though although Bartz hits weakness a lot

Banner 3's purpose, is for me to complete my super Holy Team.

Banner 4 should help in that regard too with Agrias there. I can already make an all BSB/OSB Holy team, but with Cid Raines, it just adds that extra touch.

The thing that turned me away from this game is they always group up these random assortments of characters and I'd always end up getting the breaks from characters I don't want even though my quantity was fine.

I wish banners were character specific rather than game specific. I'd probably still be playing.

Isn't that what Keeper's Choice is? Granted you're pretty limited to the 15 selected but it's something guaranteed.

Through the whole reason they do the random gacha system is because the game is free to play and they have to make the money somehow. Most people would just get the top tier stuff like Orlandeau OSB, Cid Raines BSB, Cloud USB ect and not bother drawing much otherwise. Sucks but that's just the way it goes, through FFRK is one of the more lenient free-to-plays from what I hear.

I mean if you drew on a Cloud banner the draw rate for his ZXZZSB would be the same as if you drew on a FFVII banner you'd just get other Cloud relics if you didn't get it instead of Tifa's ZXZZSB I think the game would be just as profitable

I'd doubt that. The game is over two years old through, most of the casual characters loyalist are probably long gone by now and it's mostly hardcore fans left who aim for top tier relics. Final Fantasy 14 was one of the more popular banners and you probably won't find many character loyalists for the likes of Minfilia or Yda.

Record Keeper is still making profits due to the hardcore following, it made it past it second year after all when most casual games die in a year or less when their casual player intrest ends.

Record Keeper's banner system isn't really that different from any other mobile games.

The weapons could very well represent the characters themselves, because it's not like people are going to run teams with characters that only have their default SB in high level content.

Actually that's a good point about Record Keeper, you don't have to buy characters since Souls of Heroes are easy to get, so you can get any previously released character you want from the Hall of Rites (besides ones that just came out, but those get added to the Hall of Rites in a month) I'd much rather have Cloud with no relics than having to gacha him.

Relics are mostly for Ultimate event bosses/Nightmare Dungeons ect, You can beat most of the story dungeons with almost any team thanks to the powercreep of current relic stats, even if you don't get a character specific relic 5-star synergy is more than enough to beat most classic dungeons. And even then some people still manage to beat those difficulties without Relic Soul Breaks.

Not to mention characters without relics can rely on Roaming Warrior bursts like Cid Raines and Onion Knight.

On today's episode of "Why do BSBs avoid me?", the result of 150 mythril

2 dupe Fire Lashes, 1 Sirius, 1 Naginata and 1 Barztpocalypse

After a whooping 400 mythril (and 300 gems), the banners have given me 10 SSBs (including a bunch of dupes), a single BSB (a dupe of Maria's BSB, the only BSB I had on either banner), 3 OSBs and 2 copies of Tyro's USB. Not terrible draws, but dammit, I wanted BSBs.

Honestly the biggest issue with the draw system is you gotta hit gold multiple times with any given character you wanna use. Focusing banners would help but wouldn't totally alleviate the situation.

Exvius, you want Orlandu, you luck into drawing him and you got a fully functional Orlandu.

Record Keeper you want Orlandu you gotta get a few relics to start, then you gotta keep doubling down on him every time the next Soul Break gimmick comes out.

All this being said I think the main reason I quit is because non gacha based progression kinda falls off a cliff once you've got rank 3 of the level 5 skills you like, but the relic system is pretty bad.

Orlandeau still kicks major ass without his relics. He has one of the biggest skillsets, best overall physical stats and his Level 99 Record Materia lets you do fast cast Full Charges for the first few turns so Orlandeau is a bad example.

A better example would Kain who's much more of a relic dependant character to be viable, but there's more good relicless characters than there dependant ones (unless you count cores, but they don't have good relic skills anyway)

Also we get new 5 star skills pretty frequently in recent events so it's not like you hit a wall there either.

Well first of all for high level content non limit break characters aren't exactly what I'd call viable when compared to the characters you draw em for. You can use em for a challenge, but yeah even WhiteLens said as much. I've used Full Charge + Power Chain Tidus plenty to adequate effect but it was never better than Jecht who I fluked into all the relics for.

More importantly though using characters without cool moves just isn't as fun which is the bigger deal.

As for the new 5* abilities it's not like there's strong power creep there so I don't really call it progression. Options are neat but you don't get much stronger making em.

I still think the game has better gameplay vs Exvius, but yeah the deeper in you go you either gotta be a minimalist who uses whichever character they draw the best relics for, or a whale. Otherwise the draw system just isn't gonna give you a lot of satisfaction on the whole. The game basically alienates the fanservice gamers unless they're willing to shell hard. The people who REALLY like the gameplay should have enough fun gachas to soldier on, but I think there were better models to explore, probably.

Of course they're going to lag behind characters that have relics, but they're far from worthless without them. And he said a team of default soul break characters, with 5 party slots you can't make room for relic character you're indifferent towards? You can also have a relicless character use a burst roaming warrior. In the Beatrix/Steiner ultimate+ I didn't have any relics for Vivi and Kuja but they used Cid Raines BSB RW and I still mastered the fight.


High level bosses are going to require smart team building even if you have good relics for a favorite character, that's most of what the higher metagame is based around. I don't like Vaan at all as a character but he's one of my top choices for Ultimate bosses because of his BSB, but that doesn't mean I not suddenly not having fun just because I'm not using Cloud or Kefka. Making teams with the wisest choices of your roster and relics is the meat of the game. Besides you can still do like 80% of the core game with relicless favorites anyway, egg up the characters who have relics and just use them for Ultimates/Nightmares. Most casual favorite-only players aren't even going to bother with high level bosses anyway.

There's also a lot of good new 5* skills like Gaia's Cross, Tiamat, new Ninja Magic, twinstrike spellblades, Ultra Cure ect. They're not game changing but they're plenty good enough to be worth using and honing and giving some new strategies for Ultimates. I used back row Pecil with a bow and Gaia's Cross for a new defensive strat for example.

Also I wouldn't really call it being a minimalist since the game is rather generous with Mythril, and we've had a lot of lucky draws recently, I have plenty of good relics for a variety of characters. And while I may not have any relics for personal favorites like Kefka, Squall and Cecil, and relics for characters I hate like Snow and Hope, that doesn't mean I'm going to get bitter and quit the game when the gameplay is still fun enough to keep me invested.

I just make use of what I have. I've gotten so burned with bad luck on so many mobile games that I've gradually stopped caring about bad pulls. I've been through a lot worse than what Natwaf went through.


Aside from the relics, all there are record spheres for upgrading a characters, but I haven't done those much.

Though I've never tried the torment dungeons and have barely done any of the nightmare stuff, so I don't know if those are needed.

I never did get Mug Bloodlust, nor did I ever unlock Meltdown.

That's just the nature of these gacha based mobile games, you have to use what lady luck gives you and be resourceful with what you get. But what I like about record keeper that even with 5*star relics you're not craving they still make stat sticks. I probably won't ever use Sabin in an Ultimate fight but I have 5* FF6 armor finally.

Cid Missions are actually a good point of people using relicless characters for a high level boss, I remember there was a big topic on the Record Keeper board on strategies how to Cid Mission the Ultimate+ in the last FF1 event since most people have little to no synergy for that realm.

Yeah I know well the strategy in the game dude I played this game pretty religiously for the first year and a half of its existence, using pretty gimpy squads to clear a lot of stuff due to being stubborn about using characters I like, so I know skills are king. And like I said the gameplay is still good.

I just don't think the gameplay is quite good enough to carry it when progression halts and the relic system makes it bad at fanservice. Some people like me don't wanna use Vaan just cause his BSB is good. But if you don't you either spend heavily or pass on the highest level content, or bang your head on a boss by spamming reloads since you're using a strategy with a low success rate due to choosing to use weaker characters. None of these options were appealing to me the more advanced the game got, particularly since I refuse to s/l.

The first year or so was a blast. Then I started getting strong relics for characters I wasn't excited for and I started to need to use stupid Tyro to clear things too often so it got to be more of a slog. Once 6* skills got introduced it kinda really went downhill for me though as at that point I had most appealing 5* skills at Rank 3. Acquiring those things is just TOO slow so it doesn't feel like your team gets any better with day to day play.

I'm glad you still get something out of it and I still think the game is good but it's just not for me anymore. As for why I'm here to begin with blame Natwaf for posting a confusing quit message in the Exvius topic out of nowhere. Didn't really mean to pick a fight or anything.

He did the same in the Mobius/KHUX topic despite Mobius not having to rely too much on luck....you'd think that'd be the one game he sticks with.

Incidentally, Unchained X has a lot of guaranteed 6* medal banners which sounds good but not every medal is considered good.

I can definitely understand how someone can get burned out of this game, but I'm not sure why 6* skill would cause someone to quit, half of them aren't worth making and you can beat Ultimate++'s without them (only 6* skill I use is Meltdown anyway)

The game is getting more complicated in the next few months, there's going to be chain soul breaks starting with the FF11 event, legendary materia, Terra and the FF9 characters will be able to transform into their trance forms and uber insane Magicite Dungeons. It's evolving into a more hardcore game so the game's market is aiming more for the numbercrunching niche who wants the best new relics moreso than the casual fan who wants to assemble a team of their favorites.

By the way Lopen did you ever try the multiplayer at least? That's one of the best updates the game, and the current raid boss Shadow Lord is very teamwork focused.

It's not so much that 6*s are super worth making (though if the resources weren't so damn rare though you'd use more than Meltdown I'm sure) as much as there's nothing that's worth making that feels like a significant upgrade-- like getting 3* skills was exciting, getting 4* skills and leveling em was exciting, getting 5* skills and leveling em was exciting. Getting 6* was not exciting because you got them at a snail's pace, and getting more 5* skills doesn't really fill that void in to my satisfaction.

And no I haven't played any of the multiplayer. Not sure if I'd really be drawn in there as teaming with randos isn't something I've ever cared for all that much-- I assume there's a way to coordinate with people in here but that's not ideal either since I'm sorta so far out of the loop at this point. I might play the game again someday but there would need to be like... players choice banners that have prime soul breaks I missed. (Tidus Rikku Yuffie)

Crystals are too rare I agree with that, and I only use Meltdown with Alphinaud anyway since his burst recovers ability uses and has wind infusion. But I never made 6* skills a major priority anyway, I'm more focused on honing chain spells to r3, more *5 Knight skills and eventually the sharpshooter skills when they get buffed in the Type-0 event. Maybe darkness skills as well since I got some dark infusions soul breaks recently.

There's multiple difficulties in raid (50/80/120/160/200) and you can join a team here using the Board 8 room. You can't be that out of the loop a 50 difficulty boss is out of your league can you?

I mean I can probably still do the current content like I said there isn't much advancement in the game now and hasn't been for a while aside from mythril-- that's not really what I meant by out of the loop. I mean I have a Tidus with an OSB for DPS and I "lucked into" a bunch overpowered support stuff on characters I don't like.

Out of the loop I more mean I'm just sorta disconnected right now.
