Blizzard nerfed Drops and Goblin Farming and the only way to get TO Act 3/4 Inferno is by getting gear that only drops IN Act 3/4 Inferno

They're fixing this in 1.3

You will be able to get Act 4 level drops in all previous acts, but with lower drop rates

I don't do co-op gaming, so there's no need to have my battle tag.

You can turn off quick join, you know? Unless you don't want people chatting you and inspecting your characters, there's no reason to hide your battletag if you're a well-adjusted rational human bei-- oooooh okay I get it now.

yeah it's definitely possible to get through with no ah/no grinding, at least in my class, but i do feel that drops could be a little better than they are. i'm at the diablo fight, and literally all of the equipment i'm currently using is from hell mode except my weapon (780 1h, dropped in act 3), off-hand (source, dropped in act 2), and amulet (purchased from a merchant in act 2). and i've had decent valor stacks for the most part - not a constant 5, but usually 3+.

my major trouble spots were belial (hundreds of tries lol i suck) and izual (probably like 80 tries). nothing else killed me repeatedly, but i did have to leave and resume games 2-3 times to get better maps in some places - getting camped at entrance by elite soul lashers is not fun. i can kill most elite packs with some effort and a lot of kiting, though many of them will give me the out of time debuff and i have to get out of range and then come back before their hp resets. the really awful packs i just teleport past or lead into a corner or try to abuse terrain somehow (eg heart of the damned map - i could lure the elites, including an invulnerable minions pack, to a level far below and shoot at them from above, and they just stood there and died).

diablo is also giving me trouble but that's in part because my mouse broke, and he's definitely doable if i play sufficiently well. i can even survive a hit from him unless he melees with his damage curse or poison on or lands the exploding fireball. the fight just takes forever and there's so much time to make a mistake.

anyway, it looks like they are in fact addressing the gear issue, so i doubt there'll be anything to complain about after the next patch.

The Diablo Forums are packed with threads from pissed off people. In between fits of laughter at people threatening Blizzard with cancelling their WOW accounts( its funny because if you have 4 WOW accounts there's a good chance you aint quittin, Blizzard owns you) here's the gist of things:

Beyond character reveals, anything Blizzard has said about the game has resulted in poor responses on forums. It's wild to have gone through Diablo II's community and to see this. It's not a total surprise, but definitely a giant shame.

Uh so I finally got a small taste of how Class and Gear matter in this series.

My Monk is decked out in the best gear possible for my level thanks to the Butcher dropping me 3 rare items with 18-25 dexterity when I fought him on my WD. I ran through the Desert Area in Act II with reasonable ease. I dodged alot of it and when I came across those annoying bugs I just dashed to them and kicked em in the face.

My Barbarian was not so fortunate. I've kinda sped through with him and my gear isn't quite up to date. That same Desert almost got me wiped because I wasn't dodging those little bugs that do much damage for no reason at all. Leap Strike could get me to one of them but then I'd have to dodge bugs until it came up again. It wasn't much work but it caught me off guard

Overall I'm really loving this game and grinding for gear on different champs is fun. Despite how challenging people say it is, I'm going to try and avoid using the AH for things. The only time I'll ever put anything up is if it's something for the Wizard because I'll never use it.

Picked up a green that looks like its worth about 20 bucks so I'm hoping that it sells.

Unfortunately I didn't roll higher Dex on it or it would have been super amazing status, but it was a solid roll and so I'm still happy with it.

i think i've found five legendaries, the best of which was an 820 dps 2h crossbow. worst were two <20dps monk fists. no set pieces, though.

also i have seriously had it with diablo's fireball. he throws it at me, i teleport, it follows me and explodes under me. ???

and no, i'm not teleporting along the fireball's path or anything; i blink to the side and it inexplicably blinks with me. must be a bug or a lag issue. been trying to use wave of force or slow time to deal instead, but sometimes those are down or he's too close for slow time to be a good option.

Legendaries/sets I've found include:

1) A (terrible) weapon I sold for like 150k.
2) A lvl 47 monk weapon. It was decent on my alt, but almost immediately overshadowed.
3) Tal Rasha's Armor. Not great, but not horrible.
4) A low roll Lacuni Prowlers with a low dex roll as one of the mods, which I'm now currently using. Quite useful because they're the only source of IAS on bracers. As a plus, they also have move speed.
5) And today, one of the few actual useful weapons, a Three Hundredth Spear with max MF, (it's useful because it has magic find, not because it's a good weapon in of itself) at the end of a pony run, which is currently itself being used at the end of pony runs.

Though, as I said before, basically all set/legendary weapons and a large chunk of armor is pretty much worthless right now.

playing Diablo 3 with people>>playing it alone. Everytime I get on I think I invite everyone my friend's list to play. I did Double Demon Hunters with Solf today we had a moment where we funneled 20 mobs into a hallway and just Rapid Fired them to death. We held a memorial for the massacre.

Moments like this make the game worth the money.

It's like Borderlands but not as fun(but honestly what is)

Awesome infernal pony runs were had tonight. Shoe had some crazy luck and picked up a stormshield with a reasonably solid roll that will RMAH for a good bit if he lists it. During that same run I also picked up a level 60 shield. Mine was only a rare, not a legendary, but was WAS legendary was the roll I got on it. 76 All Resist (out of 80) and 59 Physical Resist (out of 60) two near perfect rolls and so I'm hoping some monk running physical resists with some cash to burn will take it off my hands tonight.

Mac Arrowny also joined us for a run, but that run was lame because red and I kept having computer issues, sorry Mac ;_; I think we still got some reasonable drops from that run, it was just not very efficiently handled as a result, lol.

What level was everyone when they finished normal?

I just hit level 32 and I just clearedAct 2 and I don't know if in on pace or not.

Chris I'm glad you understand simple economics and are cashing in on it. Anyone who's ever played an MMO with an Auction House can tell you that everytime an expansion comes out with shiny new items their price inflates like crazy because of the demand of "newness".

I'm just pissed I didn't get this game earlier. Making idiots pay for their impatience and E-Peens is a specialty of mine.

Can you imagine!?!? Would there be anything more fun to watch than 2 people who have spent countless hours keeping a character alive long enough to farm up great gear dueling to the death knowing one of those characters would be wiped from existence?

yay finally beat Normal.

Gonna level up my Monk to catch up. I'm enjoying doing it in this fashion because during my WD runs I get really cool stuff for my Monk and there's nothing I love more than completely overpowering weak packs of enemies!

I get 6 hours in Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Sunday. FoolMo what level are you? If it's close to me I'll PowerLevel my Witch Doctor and catch up. Right now I'm using WD as a farm bot for my Monk but I could easily just switch and use it full time because I enjoy the class.


Also, The last 15 minutes of Act 4 were a BLAST. Just legion after legion of elite mobs in close quarters with a class that has no real defenses or instant Health/Tank button. If Inferno is like that but a million times harder all the time I'm friggin pumped.

Chris how many OH CRAP buttons do you run on your Monk? I'm guessing Serenity and Breath of Heaven are standard but do you ever run the Inner Sanctuary one? Also what Mantra do you use?

Mantra of Evasion - Hard Target

I have those two you mentioned and Blinding Flash.

They aren't oh crap buttons as much as a rotation to keep me alive by staggering incoming damage.

I ran Dual Wield for the longest time, but to keep that sustainable in late Inferno you need a lot of attack speed/Life on Hit that I just didn't have, so I sword and shield now.

Not sure if you have all of these but the three best for where you are at, for me, were:

Seize
Resolve
Transcendence

Transcendence is literally broken until late game. You almost cannot die.

And Chris with 50% Dodge and 1500 armor and 120 Life on Hit I don't really lose health so I'm just tinkering around with different stuff. I don't think I could ever force myself to use a shield on this character so I'm going to just farm my ass off until I can afford a good 2 handed or DW build.

Does anyone use the Diabo? I have yet to see a single person on stream.

Crafting is basically Gambling

The Blacksmith you scrap blues/rares for mats, use those mats to make a Blue/Yellow/Legendary(depending on what recipe you have) with the amount of random modifiers the recipe has.

Honestly its not worth it atm, and I just scrap crappy blues/Yellows in inferno's for the essences since they sell pretty well.

Gemming is self explanatory.

To be honest you should just sell everything you're not going to use. Nothing you can craft in Normal is worth the investment or time. Once you can upgrade your Blacksmith fully you can start tinkering around because the next patch is lowering the price and material cost of higher end stuff.


I spent a good 5-6 hours just re-running Act 3 with my WD so I could farm up Magic Items and tinker with crafting so that my Monk could use the stuff but it's literally a crapshoot because you can't see what stats you're getting.
