got to the end of the corrupted angel phase a couple times but screwed up. out of repair gold at the moment so i'm calling it a night. hopefully won't take too much longer - would like to clear before 1.03

i seem to have the most luck when the oppressors actually decide to fight the angels for a bit on the other side of the pit i'm circling. but often izual himself is still chasing me and i can no longer circle around the pit because of unit collision, so i screw up. need to try teleporting away - hopefully this won't make the oppressors stop fighting the angels and charge me (like they usually do when i teleport)

So I've played all 4 classes to around level 12-25 and Demon Hunter is by far the most fun. Like stupid fun. There's something addicting about holding down Bola Shot and wiping a room before you walk in.

It's either that or vaulting so you can super speed around the map relentlessly.

okay, diablo phase 1 is trivial but it takes about two years, so i get barely any time to practice phase 2, which is not trivial. augh. the current issue is apparently being too close to the random cracks in the ground which makes him keep teleporting to me. haven't yet determined a wide enough loop i can go around that doesn't run into any of them. i would like to just practice this on hell, but that would make me lose my quest progress

That is not how quest progress works. You retain all major checkpoints (any quest you can switch to). There is literally a quest checkpoint right before the Diablo fight.

Was playing public act two and came across two pairs of those wasps that shoot slow bugs at you at once.
One pack was illusion+molten so all of the ground was death and the other pack had vortex so you got pulled into instant death.
Also the screen looked like a bullet hell of tiny bullets that if two hit you you were dead. D:

in other news, my mouse's left click started malfunctioning, so now i have to swap left/right click and put something i only use once every few minutes like energy armor on left click ('right click' according to the game). this means i have to completely retrain my muscle memory for diablo. oh well.

So what are everyone's thoughts on the RMAH(sans Chris/Aga who are cleaning up)

The Diablo Forums are packed with threads from pissed off people. In between fits of laughter at people threatening Blizzard with cancelling their WOW accounts( its funny because if you have 4 WOW accounts there's a good chance you aint quittin, Blizzard owns you) here's the gist of things:


Blizzard nerfed Drops and Goblin Farming and the only way to get TO Act 3/4 Inferno is by getting gear that only drops IN Act 3/4 Inferno, essentially forcing people to use the Auction House which is super inflated at the moment. Thus, Blizzard is forcing people to pay to play a game they already paid for.


The Opposing Side is saying "the RNG will eventually drop something you need if you keep playing. I've played 200 hours and keep getting cool stuff for all my classes"

The Other Side is saying "who the hell wants to play 200 hours for one piece of gear. I'm tired of getting 100 quivers when all I need is one head gear item for my Monk"

Witch Doctors are saying "I paid 300 bucks and have the best items and I'm still useless"

And I'm just thinking "If I spend 200 hours playing a game I got for 60 bucks then it was a successful purchase"

HGR is in act 4

HGR does not auction house.

Pretty sure that means he cleared act 3 which I'm still impressed with btw. It is possible to force your way through without either Auction House if that's what you want. But that's not for me, I prefer to use the gold auction house.
I've spent millions of gold on my gear, but I've also USED the gold auction house to MAKE millions of gold.

You find something good but it's not for your class? Sell it on the auction house! I still think the most I've picked up from a single piece is around 750,000 (which pales in comparison to some of the things that red and chris have sold) but that 750k goes a LONG way towards buying expensive gear for myself. I didn't have to spend any USD to buy things for gold either.

And inferno act 1 is SO much easier than the rest of inferno. Which means if you are just farming act 1 over and over (which I don't recommend right now, not until they adjust drop rates) but even if that's all you are capable of doing you will get SOME 60 gear. And even if its BAD 60 gear you can salvage it instead of selling it to the NPC. Because guess what? The essences from 60 gear are selling on the AH for 2,000+ gold each right now. I expect that number to gradually go down, but it will still normalize well over 1000 which is a BIG increase on the 200 you would have got from the vendor.

There are plenty of ways to use the AH to MAKE gold and they do not take much time at all.



And thanks to actually having boss gear I was able to do a run of Infernal Ponies with Shoe and Ermine.

Just from the Tomes of Secrets that were dropped and the Essences and Tears from the bad 60 gear that I salvaged I was able to list them (and they sold FAST like they usually do) and made 60k. But I also picked up 5 pieces of gear that might actually be worth something. So I undercut comparable gear and listed them. If all 5 pieces sell (likely I think since I undercut by enough) that'll be another 400k. I didn't even get a lot of rares that run (bad RNG), but it was still worth something because I sell stuff on the AH.


I have 7 things listed on the RMAH as well. I had 8 but I made 1 dollar on something that sold >_<''. Unfortunately for me I haven't rolled any "truly great" gear that is properly RMAH-able, but if something looks "better than just decent" I'll try and RMAH it first. And if it doesn't seem to be worth money I'll just Gold AH it instead.



But if anyone wants me to open the door to the Pony level for them on any level then give me a shout in game. if i'm not in the middle of something I'd be happen to open it for anyone who doesn't have their own Staff of Herding yet. Or run it with me on Infernal if you are geared for it. But if you are going to run it with me I would ask that you have a good set of magic find gear to throw on when it's time to loot the place. My own set has 225% for example which puts me at 300% once the group has 5 stacks of valor. Your set doesn't have to be quite so high but do try to at least have MF on every slot (sans weapon).

(You can pick up MF-only gear pretty cheaply on the auction house >_> )


Point is yeah you could drop a few hundred dollars and have amazing gear, but it's not like there aren't options.

Also My DPS is at just about 50k right now (with familiar and force weapon active). I think my next big purchase is going to involve saving up tons of moneys and making a purchase on a massively powerful 1H weapon.

My current weapon has 835.2 DPS, It has 159 Intel, and it also has a socket which is currently slotted for 60% crit damage. (I could increase that to 70% by making a star but I haven't combined my gems yet)

I have a 11% crit rate and so the crit damage actually increases my DPS by more than a red gem would. Even using max level gems and a base crit rate of 5% it seems like you get a bigger percentage boost to your DPS (which is multiplicative) by using the green gems. And it only makes more and more sense the more crit rate you have. I honestly don't see any reason to run red gems in weapons anymore unless there is something I'm missing.


Either way I'm probably shopping for something with at least 1k damage, some amount of intel and a slot. I'll start keeping my eyes open once I'm at 5M again, but it might take a lot more than that to get something perfect for me.

And actually my weapon was 1.5M when I bought it and seems to be worth at least 2 to 2.5M right now. I wouldn't say its appreciated though, it's more likely that gold has devalued. Either way my gear seems pretty solid aside from the weapon so I'll keep working towards that. Wont be upgrading any armor pieces for now unless I happen to stumble across and upgrade while running ponies.

Or you could just buy a strong MF set and join at the end of pony runs like ermine does ^_^. He isn't adequately geared for inferno yet, but he's already picked up upgrades to himself by doing pony runs with us. Really can't having anyone join us unless they have a good amount of MF though since it averages MF accross the group. >_<''

The people making the most sense are the Diablo 2 people. They're saying they got their best stuff through meeting people and trading. Since it's a game of Random Drops, the more people you know and party with, the better your chances of finding stuff you need.

I know it's nowhere near the same thing, but when you guys helped me do my first run of the game we would get 7-8 rare drops per boss and then trade useful items.

They're fixing the Drops in Act 1 Inferno so clearly they're acknowledging a problem, but I feel like this is a case of a game trying to force people to play together in an environment that's ever increasingly anti-social.


Which makes me ever increasingly thankful( if that sentence doesn't break 5 English Rules I'd be shocked) that I have you guys to play with later. I can't imagine playing this game solo. I think I spend more time bothering FD/Lopen then I do actually playing.

I don't see trading items to be particularly useful though at end game.

While leveling it was and should be common for us to pick up something that might be good on someone else in the party and offer it to them. But at this point the chance of me picking up some kind of monk-gear and to look at it and say "this might actually be an upgrade for Chris or Shoe" is such a tiny chance. If I get strong monk gear I might as well sell it for as much as its worth on the AH and use the cash to buy strong wizard gear.

Yeah it's definitely possible to do Inferno through sheer force of will as a wizard without using the auction house or grinding forever for gear-- I'm doing the same thing myself and am up to Belial-- who I've come close to getting past a few times. Figure if I mash my head against him for a few hours I can win that fight. Mostly cause Venom Hydra and Force Armor are both broken and can do most of the work for offense and defense for you, and wormhole teleport can get you past any trouble packs. Kinda skeptical any other class (including DH-- lacking the ability to not get ohkoed by everything via force armor seems like it'd be problematic) can do it though. Course once they smooth out the difficulty that might not be the case anymore.

Well, Inferno is certainly no walk in the park for me. Especially with how I build my character, I pretty much can't survive more than a hit. There's smokescreen, but that only helps so much. While I couldn't see getting this far with no AH and no grinding, I'm sure somehow it's doable..

Welp Just finished another pony run. I am the exhausted now but I actually picked up a legit piece of gear. I undercut comparable items and put it on the RMAH for $17 dollars. Going to be pretty stoked if it sells.
