Looks like the problem was both my end and the cities end so they're knocking 15% off what I owe, which is still about $600. I found a really nice guy who cut me a break and lowered his hourly rate to $10' me. I had to replace some piping. I also learned my water .main isn't it to code for the frost line. It's only 9" instead of the 12" it's supposed to be. The guy said technically he'd have to report that to the water company because he's a contractor with them, but said he'd let it go for now because he knows I can't afford more work right now. The water company however haven't been as kind. Charging me out the ass with fees and late charges. But I have water now at least. I'm going to see if I can work out a payment plan or something because I'm low income and can t just pay $600+ dollars. It was still leaking even after I shit it off at the water main with one of those key things idk the name of a d they're trying to bill me for that even though it's their end. So hopefully I can fight that, but this shit hole town will do anything for a buck. I literally had a small patch of weeds by a tree and I had to go to the courtroom out there. The lady had fucking pics of it with a measuring tape saying it was too long even though it wasn't more than maybe 5 weeds tops and everything else was mowed. They ticketed me and charged me $125 for it, for 5 fucking weeds that were too tall. So I don't see them giving me a break but fingers crossed. Thanks again for your help, it wouldn't be on right now without your help. It's very appreciated and kind of you. I'll start with pointing out a glaring issue with those benchmarks within the context of what we're taking about, which is that while the GPU is from 2007, the rest of the system is significantly newer using an i7 7700k and 16gn of 1600mhz DDR3. Try keeping it as a straight up 2007 build with a Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad and like 4gb of DDR2 at 667mhz-800mhz and those gems get even harder to run. So you're still dealing with a situation where the PC needs at least some expensive components changes to even try to maintain that already borderline playability. So try to upgrade from a C2Q to an i5 CPU and you're not only out over a couple hundred for the CPU, but you also need a new motherboard with the proper socket, and new RAM that's compatible with that motherboard in the event that it needs a different gen that isn't compatible. Which in that case you might as well just throw in a GPU too since that's the only bottleneck keeping you from playing newer titles as well. Or you can do it the opposite and try throwing a new GPU in but leaving the rest, but if I bought a good mid range CPU like the 1070 today and put it on a C2Q system with 4gb of RAM everything else would be bottlenecking it to hell needing a new everything else anyways for playing new stuff. Neverminding the the fact that even in that video, while you can get averages that indicate playability or near playability, the lows, frame timing, and stutter can can get so bad using older hardware like that where it becomes pretty much unplayable even if the average fps is okay on paper. Finally there's just the simple disingenuous nature of saying "a GTX 1070 will still be able to play new games in 10 years" and then only mentioning indies 99% of people don't care about. Yeah, there's always going to be some low spec indie game that's retro, point and click, a visual novel, etc. But that's not the shit most people are talking about or wanting to play or what they're wanting when they say they want to still be able to play new games in 10 years. I might as well just say the 360 can still play new games after 12 years and counting because it still gets FIFA and shit. Yeah, it's technically a new game that it's able to play after 12 years but I'm sure you see the problem there... Don't get me wrong, PC is the better platform by far and anyone with the ability to should go with that over consoles, but there's no need to be disingenuous and misleading about it's capabilities as a platform. There's not any platform where you're going to be playing the all the big AAA games at good settings with decade+ old hardware without dropping money into upgrades. Shit, even getting an i9, Titan XP, 64gb DDR4 system and overclocking everything with liquid cooling is still going to struggle with all the big games a decade from now, let alone a rational mid range system. --- The above post is literally and objectively right. |
