Maybe you guys know how to wire-up all your generators and solar panels successfully to a nuclear launch facility. I certainly don't. I'm also assuming that these facilities are setup in ways where it would be impossible for a sole infiltrator to actually do anything even WITH power.

I'm just not feeling good about this plan.

Your latency score is perfectly normal, nothing to worry about. Your latency is being compared against anyone also using that kit of RAM. This includes people who: 1) are using an Intel CPU, where latency is naturally lower; and 2) people who overclocked that kit.

1. Did you fight your rival west of Viridian City?
Not a clue

2. In what order did you fight the following gym leaders?
Not a clue

3. Did you kick Giovanni/Team Rocket out of Celadon City?
Yes. Is this optional?

4. Sub-question: Did you use the Poke Doll on the ghost of Marowak?
Absolutely not

5. Did you go through the Diglett Cave/get Flash?
Yes

6. Did you go to Fuschia City via the Snorlax to the west of Celadon City/the bike route or via the Snorlax east of Lavender Town/the piers?
The latter sounds more familiar?

7. Did you go to Cinnabar Island from Fuchsia City/the Seafoam Islands or just by Surfing from Pallet Town? Did you immediately leave Cinnabar Island by flying?
Definitely got there from Pallet. Don't remember what I did afterward.

8. Did you go to the Power Plant? If so, when?
I almost think I went post-Elite Four.

9. Did you encounter/catch the legendary birds? / which ones, and when?
Definitely encountered - don't know if I caught them. Moltres -> Zapdos -> Articuno is my guess, but I don't really remember.

TopicCan someone tell me what the difference between these two things are
tyder21

Wall of text warning.

Showing up a bit late to this topic. The difference is a bit more substantial than CAS Latency of 16 vs 14 for certain people (i.e. overclockers). If you weren't aware, you can overclock RAM to force it to have higher frequency or better CAS latency (amongst other things). Certain RAM kits have a lot more headroom for overclocking than others.

Background: Even though there are many sellers/brands of RAM (G.Skill in this case), only three companies actually produce it. Those companies are Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron and they each have their own processes for the production of RAM at various qualities/densities.

The 3200C16 kit was originally manufactured by SK Hynix using their 8Gbit MFR process. This manufacturing process is not known for overclocking well. So basically, you wouldn't expect to be able to overclock the performance much above the originally promised 3200C16 spec.

The 3200C14 kit on the other hand was made by Samsung using their process often just called "B-Die". This process is very well-known for producing RAM that can overclock well-beyond the original spec. The $80 price differential could very well be worth it to someone looking for top-shelf overclocking potential.

To someone who is uninterested in overclocking, the $200 price-tag doesn't make much sense. There are cheaper 3200C14 kits out there that aren't B-Die, and would perform just fine by enabling the XMP/DOCP profile and calling it a day.

EDIT: Actually, 3200C14 doesn't really exist outside B-die at this density. But the point still stands, for someone just using XMP/DOCP, a 3200C16 kit gives extremely similar performance.

Actually, you know what? If you only care about 1080p gaming, you could probably just go with a GPU upgrade for now. Your current processor probably won't bottleneck a GPU that can better handle modern 1080p performance.

I'd look into getting like a GTX 1650 Super if your budget allows. Again, this is all assuming you have a 1080p monitor.

You're probably going to need a complete rebuild tbh.

There's not much room for upgrades on your current mobo. Mainly this is because it's using Intel's LGA 1150 CPU socket, which has been succeeded twice. Upgrading to a new board means your RAM can no longer be used as the new standard is DD4. Finally, the GTX 960 is a bit underpowered for modern titles even for 1080p gaming if you want to be hitting a stable 60 fps.

That being said, I (and I'm sure others on the board) could help provide guidance for new components if you have some parameters in mind: estimated budget, usage case (strictly gaming vs. gaming + work), etc.

Definitely used to working from home at this point. Although it'll get a lot better when the desk I ordered over a month ago finally arrives (estimated shipping date still 3-4 weeks away). I definitely miss the social aspect of being in the office, but that's about it. I certainly don't miss my 50-minute subway commute.

My office is officially closed until September 1st, but I found out two days ago that my role is being changed to WFH permanently. I think the company is realizing that WFH is going well-enough that they can start consolidating office space to save $$$. Fine by me I'm still allowed to go into the office if I reserve a desk for the day, it's just expected I'll do so at most twice a month.

Can't go wrong with a Crucial MX500 (your call on the capacity). You can either get it in an M.2 form factor or a 2.5" form factor. M.2 is nice because it plugs directly into the mobo with no wires.

The mobo I mentioned above does have a M.2 slot, but if you go in another direction with mobo/CPU, just check if your new mobo takes M.2 before purchasing anything. 2.5" will work no matter which direction you go.

Can't speak to transferring the OS to the new drive. I always fresh-install when I get a new main drive.

I'm not really plugged-in to Intel offerings nowadays, so these are more-recent AMD-centric recommendations. I targeted a build around like mid/low-range - this is potentially overkill depending on what you're doing.

MOBO: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX (note that the B550 chipset mobos will start to drop a month from now, which will allow upgrades to Ryzen 4000-series CPUs in the future, which are expected later this year)

CPU: Ryzen 3 3100 (potentially Ryzen 3 3600 depending on your budget). This would be a fairly substantial upgrade for your system.

CPU Cooler: Not very well educated in coolers. Scythe Fuma seems really well-liked if you can find it. Otherwise Noctua U14S maybe.

It's because your solution accidentally introduces a bunch of 0-leading numbers (e.g. 0112345). This perfectly offsets for the double-0's that you weren't contemplating because you can take any of these 0-leading numbers and map them to valid double-0 numbers. 0112345 -> 1002345.

Accidentally very clever.

If anyone cares, my hours of playing with this problem has simplified the solution to a graph theory problem that I can't solve.

Given a fully-connected graph of N distinct nodes (in our case, N = 12), how many ways are there to assign each edge a value (0, 1, 2, 3, or 4) such that the sum of edge-values attached to any given node is equal to 4?

I have solved this problem for N = 2, 3, and 4. Values are 24, 1728, and 366336. Can't really generalize the solution (also no dice on OEIS) and the computation for each successive N takes longer and longer.

The value from that sub-problem represents the numerator of the complement of probability we desire. The denominator is simply (using double-factorial notation): (4N - 1)!!

I also came up with an alternative framing of the graph theory problem that got me nowhere, but it's more fun. Given N schools (again N = 12 in our case) each with 4 students, how many ways are there to pair up penpals between schools such that every student is writing to one other student in a different school?
