RIP Moviepass. It was $10/month and I would go ALL the time since it was usable at any theater. Saw 40 movies with that thing in less than a year.

Monthly price is either $20, $22, or $24 depending on your state. I pay $24 since I'm in NY.

I generally try to go 3-4 times a month and will choose either a Dolby or IMAX showing. So I get my money's worth.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire

10/10

This film is straight fire. Two of my favorite genres are slower-paced romances and period pieces, so this hits on two fronts. It's so incredibly beautiful and you can just feel the longing between the characters.

Recently purchased the Criterion and have been meaning to give it a rewatch.

Not a very plot-heavy movie, but I find myself wishing it were a touch longer - I wanted more of the last 30 minutes. Morfydd was incredible, everything looked great, and I thought the editing was fantastic.

It kinda felt like a mix between The Witch (atmospheric religious horror) and The Babadook (atmospheric psychological horror), which are two of my favorite horror films in recent years. I could see myself revisiting this in the future.

The Love Witch - 7/10 - This movie was a total trip, but I ended up really liking the aesthetic. It started losing me after 90 minutes though. Didn't help that a cockroach (now dead) crawled across my floor around then, which unfairly distracted me.

8/10 maniacal laugh

BIG RATING for the BIG LAUGHS that this movie brought me, wocka wocka. This is only the second Muppet thing I've ever watched (first being Christmas Carol) and I was shocked at how well the humor was hitting with me. Which frankly, is pretty much most of what I'm asking for in a light-hearted children's movie.

Also Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams was killing her role. Mary is the real hero of this film.

It was my least favorite of the films nominated, but I actually still liked it quite a bit. McDormand, who won best actress, actually did have an incredibly strong performance.
