Hooked my technology-challenged mother up with a Roku and Playstation Vue after she cut the cord. After doing a little research, I came to the conclusion that PSVue was generally considered more reliable than Sling TV. Sat down with her for about an hour before she got the UI down, but now she loves it.

PSVue also has a built-in DVR feature that is decently easy to use. It automatically keeps episodes of TV shows that you "favorite" IIRC.

As for live, local programming: I just got her a cheap antenna.

Spent 20 minutes watching the Spanish version of Saludos Amigos (no English subtitles) because I thought it was just how the movie was. Spent the whole time wondering how the hell children were supposed to put up with it before realizing that something was wrong.

To be fair, children probably can't put up with the English version either. Garbage movie.
