I'll be honest, the execution of the deck isn't quite as easy as it looks. Sometimes you just faceroll, sure, but other times you really need to figure out how to maximize damage over the next three turns in order to "count to 30."

It's more difficult than aggro Druid or big priest at any rate.

I beat the deck more often than not and I still fucking hate it. It's almost as easy mode as pirate warrior, but at least Pirates run out of gas after the initial onslaught.

Some people want to do cool things, some people just want to win, and that's okay. Basically, my heart says "bad," but my head says "it's fine." But as long as we respect the other people's right to enjoy the game how they want, then we can all get along. Even if I don't like how someone plays, that doesn't make their way the wrong way. Sigh... I wish I had the time to explain why netdecking is not bad at all but instead a necessary and positive force, because this is scrub-tier thinking. Alas, work beckons tomorrow morning and I need to cook. I'll try to get to this tomorrow.

EDIT: If you have no interest in actual competitive play, then I understand this a bit. Faffing about with silly meme decks is awesome; I love my Renounce Darkness list even though it's very bad. But if you have even the slightest competitive surge, netdecking is an important part of the game, especially for inexperienced players.

I guess Sealed is a better comparison to Arena since it comes down purely to what you open and your deckbuilding skills. Even that's miles ahead of Hearthstone, but still has major variance.

I'm got sidetracked. My point is I've always seen variance as a defining characteristic of the Limited experience. I've seen both good local players and pros scrub out of tournaments because draft went poorly (they're still going to win more often, though). Seems to me like that's intended? I don't really play hearthstone arena much but that's a major factor as to why.

Yeah, I definitely agree with this. The existence of so many "neutral" cards in Hearthstone also makes games way swingier, since you have no idea just how many Bonemares the guy across from you has, regardless of his class. At least you only need to worry about Lightning Bolts from a Red player in Magic.

Don't get me wrong; I'm windmill slamming Glorybringer every time I see it. But I've lost plenty of games I cast a Glorybringer in with a decent deck because my opponent's commons/uncommons were rock-solid and high-utility.

There are some rares you can build your deck around (like, most recently, Approach of the Second Sun), but then you're literally building your entire deck around it. So if it gets countered, or the rest of the deck doesn't come together because you misread signals... tough.

Guys... look, as much as I didn't think I'd do this, you're missing Ulti's point. He isn't incentivizing being a bad cop or condoning it. He's saying that it's really hard for a good cop to call out a bad one without risking his life even more than usual. That's a big reason for the "silent blue line" when an officer fucks up -- if any of the good guys steps off the line, they might have their backup conveniently stuck in traffic the next day. That's the awful reality of the job even for a true believer.

Of course my view of the good cop/bad cop ratio deviates a lot from his, and I also come from a police family, but fair is fair. There are other factors that make it an incredibly toxic culture, but I really don't feel like getting into it.

Tr;dl Being a cop is even harder than you think because bullshit internal politics can also get you killed, so the culture as a whole needs a course correction. That's a big reason it's so hard to change awful police culture from within.
