Team sports, and don't say doubles. Doubles is nowhere near the popularity of singles.

The US can only have one type of these 4 sport categories be popular at once.

Rectangular field: American football > Soccer or Rugby

Rink: Ice Hockey > Lacrosse

Court: Basketball > Volleyball

Bat: Baseball > Cricket

Therefore, soccer isn't allowed to be popular the same time as american football.
