Once for the poop.

Once for the toilet paper.

This helps minimize the chance of a clog. Also it's best to flush the poop as soon as you're done so the smell won't linger as long.

It depends. If it's a big poop, I'll flush it right away then wipe. For smaller poops, one flush for everything is fine.

Another advantage of flushing right away is that it greatly reduces the amount of shit stains in your toilet bowl that you have to clean.
