I remember mine very vividly, it was a baseball anime called Princess Nine. It was the first anime that I found out about, really wanted to watch it, realized it wasn't on TV, googled how to watch it, and found a way. It was my gateway to subbed anime, my gateway to anime beyond what was on TV, and a big reason why I'm an anime fan today.

The first and only anime series I've ever watched was Neon Genesis Evangelion somewhere around 1999-2001. Subbed.

Probably Your Lie in April? It was one of the first series I pirated when I was in my senior year of high school and figured out how to do so. (Others I think were Attack on Titan, and Pokemon & MegaMan.EXE for nostalgia purposes.)

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (David Pro/2012)

I only watch dubbed until this year when I decided to finally try watching some shows that won't be dubbed. So I started with Sound Euphonium which I adored (and turns out might be getting a dub now which I'm psyched for!) but since the final season didn't finish until after I finished Girls Band Cry I suppose GBC would be the first I watched the entirety of technically. Also a great show.

Hard to say tbh. Maybe Burn UP EXCESS on DVD as it had both ENG and JPN language settings.

either that or Azumanga Daio which also had dual language settings due to ADVs efforts to put out dual language offerings in various animes they localized to the US.

I was about to say Yu Yu Hakusho but I didn't watch anything past the dark tournament until 2008, when I got the full series DVD from Best Buy. My real answer is Marmalade Boy which is an anime I randomly rented from the library in 2006, ended up really enjoying it and binged the entire thing in two weeks.

EDIT: I read subbed as dubbed. First subbed anime I ever watched was Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

Maybe Code Geass? Naurto and Bleach came first, but Naruto I never finished and both ran well past the end of Code Geass, Code Geass is the first one I remember watching all the way through.

Probably Claymore. I think that was also the first manga I attempted to read all the way through.

Though, I do watch my anime almost exclusively dubbed. I've only made a few exceptions for series I especially wanted to watch but that didn't have (and didn't seem likely to ever get) a dub~

Naruto Shippuden since it was like a billion episodes ahead of the dub.

Back in my junior high Japanese class, we would often just watch InuYasha and Ghibli films subbed

outside of that, probably this anime called Doki Doki School Hours, since my friend and I just watched it on YouTube long before they cracked down on that lmao

If it counts where I started it dubbed then finished it subbed it would be Death note.

Most likely Rurouni Kenshin. My grandma used to buy me the VHS tapes, and then the DVDs as they were released. The last DVD came out in 2000.

The next potential full series I would have seen would be Cowboy Bebop (poor Outlaw Star is out of the running due to one episode never being aired on Toonami's original Midnight Run), and I'm pretty sure that was during high school, so 2001 for me.

Stuff like Medabots, Monster Rancher, Gundam Wing, Speed Racer, etc. were also early watches, but I definitely never managed to catch every episode of any of those series.

All I can recall is naruto and bleach since like someone else said the subs were way ahead of the dubs.

In the modern day when dubs is premiering either at the exact same time (I think the new ranma 1/2 is airing same day dubs. All I know is I see'em on netflix so I leave it at that) or at worst like a week away like with dragon ball daima then I always opt to watched things dubbed.

Dragon Half. And only because there is no dub for it.
