Star Trek is post scarcity. The means of production is irrelevant, limitless, requires no labor, and can meet everyone's needs at no cost. It's like asking who owns breathable air.

Yeah and unfortunately, communists like @Godnorgosh couldn't actually care less about getting to such a state. They'd rather just live in a society where the workers own the means of production because they have a bizarre fixation on the workers needing to own the means of production.

Yeah was just gonna say that. Being a full-time fairy tale peddler is a luxury, not a need. The system shouldn't be expected to take care of you if you want to do that. Either save the money until you can do it yourself, or ask the church to pay for it via donations (the Vatican certainly has enough money), or stick to your day job.

I sympathize with some of these situations but some of them are ridiculous. I'd be interested in seeing how many of them are similarly ridiculous or a result of people's own choices throughout life. The current system definitely sucks, but let's not excuse individuals from making good choices too. Bernie's system isn't going to magically solve problems. If anything it'll cause even more GoFundMe campaigns once the tens of millions who are self-employed and/or uninsured take home 10-15 percent less income despite their paycheck to paycheck expenses remaining the same. Gonna be a lot more foreclosures and bankruptcies then.

Would they be lacking legitimate paystubs due to their illegal immigrant status? AOC is clearly under the impression that what she is trying to do would actually result in more people accessing the programs, so I'm skeptical that you are being honest right now.

Because they use climate policies as a way to sneak in regressive high taxes and more control over the output of the economy.

People won't balk at less goods and services available if you tell them the world will end unless we do it. And we know that socialism entails fewer goods and services in general, given that Marx advocated for less imports and more reliance on just what can be produced in your immediate surroundings. And Marx also advocated control over the economy.

What better way to get the control than the world ending if you don't? Or at least convincing people we have just twelve years left.

I just wished they focused more on him and giving him more time to speak.

They know that if he did, he'd be #1. And they aren't ready for a candidate who pushed UBI as the main thing.

Universal income would make people free and a lot would change with respect to negative clickbait news. People would be less gullible and less likely to give CNN, etc, tons of ad revenue.

That's terrible to not give Yang a chance when he's been gaining a lot of support from being a nobody at first.

I like him and he is the first politician I have ever donated to or cared to follow, but it is basically a moonshot for him. Which is okay, because he grew a lot. It's entirely possible he will do much better next time.
