I think the Big Boss era is cool in a prequel Star Wars kind of way. Telling a story that would ultimately loop back to the beginning. People would even talk about it ending with a remake of Metal Gear or 2.

dkc is a solid shout but it'd need to be something on a level beyond anything the series has had before to be a STRONG launch title compared to what came before. i wouldn't rule that out though, they've had time to quietly plan something like that

Claw stuff is great cause it's parody until it's not.

Although I do remember not liking how the anime ended one of the s1 episodes with the fire. Way too dark of an implication for mob. I even checked the manga, which didn't end the chapter at that point and let you know they were fine before it ended.

I didn't know the anime got worse, only saw the first few episodes myself.

The anime of UU is really well done at least

Really wanted to try to fit the Atari 2600 in there but NES basically eats all its contributions.

I think being a competitor to Nintendo is a big deal though. The Genesis is basically the precursor to the PlayStation in it's ability to attract a different crowd. Obviously Sony gets the credit for actually winning, but who knows if the gates would have been open if not for Sega.

If Dragon Ball wasn't released the way it was in the west, no one would suggest starting with Z. Anime's fault I suppose. Did Dragon Ball need a rebranding?

But if you really want to get the western cultural appreciation, then dubbed Z is the way to go, but even that's kind of a mess of releases.
