NES and PS2 were completely dominant, for example, and the Switch still might break the record for the most console sales ever. Wii broke new markets and sold an absolute ton, and had a cultural presence others didn't (I was not a fan, but I'm acknowledging its pre-eminence and impact). SNES is legendary and so many of the greatest console series and genres really came into their own on it. It was selling faster than the PS2 ever did at points but hit a wall eventually. The same went for software, software sales just collapsed after about four years. --- I just decided to change this sig.
