Nah, I got both those games last year at my local used game swap shop. I played them back to back, DQ1 is just a grind fest but maybe worth playing for the history. DQ2 is amazing for how improved it is. Once you get the ship it basically turns into an open world RPG. It's properly hard, too, unlike the 1st game where you can just grind yourself up in levels and keep making progress.

The NES game is where it's at, you actually get encounters like this...You'll never see this in any of the remakes.

It's fine to blame & condemn Hamas for their behavior but there is no equivalence between the two at this point and bringing it up feels like it's deliberately in bad faith considering the sheer magnitude of the war crimes the IDF is currently committing.

Israel had made peace and given Hamas what they've wanted over the years. Hamas just uses the down time to build up weapons, dig tunnels, and wait for their chance to break the peace. I don't know why people think the IDF was going to let it slide this time. After 9/11 the USA invaded 2 countries and we didn't get nearly the backlash Israel is facing.

I mean gracious, its own predecessor was a much harder game.

It's a hard game compared to the original, but I agree that anyone can beat it with a little practice. However, half the Internet thinks the TMNT dam level is boarderline unbeatable and it makes the game one of the hardest on NES, even though that level is pathetically easy compared to areas 4-6. Sometimes I think the casual NES gamer has no concept on what is *really* hard.

He was shocked that SNES games on a real CRT TV (with inky blacks and the subtle blurring effect to mask the low resolution) combined with an external audio receiver/speakers looked and sounded so good. He didn't believe me at first that I was showing him games from the early 90s.

I don't like how you have to backtrack to kill useless no challenge enemies because you don't have the right sword when you first fight them. Other than that it's a great game with fantastic music.

At least you actually have the option to backtrack and retrace your steps for missables, something you can't always do in other games. And there are only maybe, what 3 or 4 items you are intended to backtrack for? Some metal enemies in the 1st and 3rd worlds, and some spirit enemies in one of the temples of the 2nd world.

The music is good, even if I wish there was more of it. The map music is awesome, but most people never sit and listen to it because it takes like a few seconds at most to select where you are going.

One thing this game really nails is the fun magic system, something Terranigma falls flat with. If only the regular enemies were more of a challenge instead of just appearing out of portals and beelining slowly towards you.

Yeah, I have an 8 foot table in my basement and it just *barely* fits with room all the way around. Most pool halls around me don't have a snooker table unless they are in an old warehouse or something where space isn't an issue. Also, it's a harder game to play by far, so it's not as popular. I'm sure drowning millions of civilians would endear you to the rest of the world. You think that the Chinese are that stupid to not recognize the strategic importance of the dam in a war and enacted preventative measures?

What I think or or don't think doesn't matter. I merely suggested it was a strategic target in war time, and if Taiwan is attacked it would resort to asymmetric warfare to defend itself and it would do whatever it could to repel the invaders. I actually don't think they would do that unless China threatens nuclear attack or their backs were against the wall.

Did I advocate war crimes? Why are you putting words in my mouth? And Russia seems to get a free pass to destroy dams and power plants in Ukraine as they please and they are the agressors, not the defenders.

Russia can't even come close to steamrolling Ukraine and that's a land invasion. All Taiwan has to do is lob some missiles towards the Three Gorges Dam and China would be brought to its knees.

In fact, I don't even think they need to hit the damn, I think they can attack damns further up the Yangtze river and the cascade of water flowing downstream will do the job for them.
