Didn't notice until halfway through the meal. I was talking with the people I was eating with and one pointed out that they were playing church sermons on the TV audibly. I even recorded a video to capture the audio.

This was not even in the south. This was New England. How tone deaf do you have to be to play your religious medias to your diners?

If you are so religious to do this, why disobey Exodus 35:2? ....

This drove me to giving them a 1/5 on yelp.

I would probably guess that's more knowing their audience. I don't go to church and I know after church breakfast/lunch is a thing. They play more church shit on the TVs and it draws in that crowd.

Televangelists are hit and miss tbh. I like Tony Evans, for example. Or I guess I should say I've heard a couple of his and liked them; it's totally possible he's not always on point.

But then you have guys who for whatever reason think people will buy that if you give them money God will make you rich and happy, as if he's never read the book of Ecclesiastes. Hell, his audience probably hasn't either, I guess.

Ecclesiastes is almost funny in context tbh.

It was written by Solomon--as in, King of Israel Solomon, 700 wives Solomon, wisest man who ever lived Solomon, absurdly wealthy because everyone just gave him stuff for being smart Solomon. Previously, he had written the book of Proverbs, where he joyously declares that the universe is orderly, wisdom comes to those who seek it, and life is easy if you just think it through.

Then the whole 700 wives thing caught up with him and he became a pagan since he had married like hundreds of pagans, so God promised to remove almost all of Israel from his control.

Then he writes the book of Ecclesiastes, where he essentially pouts for several chapters about how life isn't fair, you'll never get anything you search for, wisdom is completely unattainable, so you might as well just eat drink and be merry instead of worrying about complicated stuff.

Sounds like Solomon just went through three stages of despair there. The rise, comeuppance, and fall of Solomon or something.
