I used to have one for a few years when I first started driving, but overtime I kinda stopped caring.

I've never gotten a speeding ticket for actually speeding. The only speed related ticket I've ever gotten was for an accident on ice when I first started driving.

I was basically told that the ticket was mandatory for accidents unless I want to spend the time and money in court proving that there was nothing I could have done to not get in an accident/wasn't speeding somehow. Even if there was no cop to witness either and they don't actually investigate that shit over a ticket.

My dad had dementia and it can get really rough. He died of covid before it got bad, but he did got to the point where he would lock people outside right after talking them, forget some less important stuff, and so on. It wasn't too bad, but it definitely wasn't pleasant either.
