Pretty crazy chapter.

There's still a part of me wishing they didn't have devil fruit power and what made them dangerous was there wits, but yeah this chapter was hyped as fuck.

Yeah this is the other possibility I was considering since only the bird one seemed to have a "tail" but it wasn't super similar.

they could be real devils or they could be made using Imu's fruit

Can we appreciate how awesome each of the Elders actually looks in their beast form? Oda is hit or miss with character designs throughout the series, imo, but each one of the Elders is a major hit. I can tell he's been cooking them up and refining their concepts for decades now.

I also love that there's no disdain or condemnation from the Elders due to Saturn's inability to wrangle things. No blame shifting, no petty villain squabbles in the heat of the moment. There's a stark difference between the average pirate crew and the World Government.

These five guys know what has to be done and they're gonna do it with full force. That's such a rare thing to see. I expected Saturn to show up, get his ass kicked, then either retreat, die, or become cast out by the others/Imu for "failure"

I did not expect a whole-ass Avengers Assemble moment from the Gorosei like this, and it's incredibly cool. Gives me tons of hype for the showdown that will eventually bring them all down. We're sure not going to see them beaten here. Everybody will be lucky to get out alive at this point.

Imagine dey go down dis arc, it would be da huge thing da narrator meant when he said something world breaking was going to happen.

Also, i always thought it was imu who injured sabo and killed cobra, he's da real devil

So did the Demon Warthog guy do anything? I read the chapter a few times and it doesn't appear he has moved at all.

Zoro apparently couldn't be bothered to take the fight seriously until Sanji called him out for putting everyone in danger.

It's the worst outcome in a way. Lucci comes off looking weak, and Zoro didn't dispatch an opponent he should have as quickly as he should so that he could rejoin his Crew and get off Egghead.

I feel like it does fit Zoro's character somewhat, even if it highlights a negative.

EDIT: That said, I feel like at this point in the series, we really don't need to be highlighting a main character's poor traits. It feels like he should have grown beyond such a thing by now, so having him revert to it feels kinda cheap.

Zoro is inside the barrier on Egghead while the Ghandi Five Elder is currently outside it. It makes for a good fight thematically, but considering the Demon Bird Elder is the one trying to break into the barrier, I would say that Zoro would likely run into him first.

I'm mad at Zoro over taking this long needlessly...and still mad at Sanji for letting Vegapunk's Stella body get stabbed by Kizaru and almost certainly die. Wonder if either will redeem themselves in my eyes before the end of this arc.

Yeah, that part was really fucking annoying.

If the Gorosei win and shut down the message before it goes off, or we otherwise don't hear it, I'm going to be beyond livid.

If they kill Vegapunk Stella body (seems like that succeeded), stop the most important parts of the broadcast, and get whatever energy source they need to keep using the Mother Flame, I'd say that would be a win for them. All 3 are possible by the end of the arc.

but I prefer the theory where vegapunk is baiting dem and he'll stream whats happening on egghead to da whole world so dey can all see da monsters dey really are

They won't win in the sense that they kill everybody, but there's a possibility that they accomplish their objective with regard to shutting down the message. The current victory condition for the Straw Hats is basically "make sure the message goes out and then escape with your life."

This is the point in the mission where the objective "Survive!" shows up on the screen. Ain't no way the crew is ready to face all five unkillable, presumably-immortal and 800+ year old Gorosei.

I can see the Mother Flame being used on Egghead...although that's only if the World Government can move anything of value (such as the Mother Flame's power source) and also Punk Records (not sure what Oda's going to do with that honestly). Might backfire if it gets out that the Government has that capability to nuke an island though.

That would involve Vegapunk knowing about their transformations beforehand. Just not sure where he would get that information in the first place. Not impossible though.

The third one is pretty much game over for the entire story, so that of course won't happen. And this broadcast is being hyped up too much for it to not happen (especially since it's Stellapunk's last words). Plus this is the first arc with the crew as a Yonkou crew, they gotta prove this to the world

Not necessarily. The World Government is hush hush about using the weapon openly. Having it just means it can be used as a threat further down the road...probably when the Ancient Weapons start being used, probably by Blackbeard.

The crew failed to get Vegapunk's Stella body alive off the island (assuming he is dead) which is what Luffy promised Sentomaru, so they aren't off to a great start. Still, actually successfully getting away from 5 gigantic monsters that regenerate from all damage would be a victory in itself, particularly if Bonney also gets away with them. I mean...look at what happened to Law and Kidd after leaving Wano. I'm sure the Strawhats will do better than that at least.

Shit is happening fast now in the OP world. What will happen first, a showdown with BB/Akainu/Shanks and the like, or the WG?

I feel like what's going to happen sooner or later is a rift between the Marines and the World Government as a whole. Fujitora is already working in the interests of the people over the Celestial Dragons more often than not, Kizaru here is teetering precariously close to rethinking his entire life, and Kuzan already split off.

Akainu's shown to be pissed at the elders for pulling the shit they did with Doflamingo. Greenbull is a hothead who'd probably turn on just about anybody who disrespected him hard enough (he and Fujitora have already clashed despite being on the same side)

With all that's happened with Garp, Koby, Cross Guild, etc....I don't think it's likely that the Marines will be the final bosses of the series. There are too many good people in the Marine ranks overall. Even Akainu might have a change of heart under the right circumstances, because he sure doesn't like it when the Gorosei screw around with his reputation.

I think we'll discover what the One Piece is before the final clash with the World Government and Imu. I think it will be Pirate vs. Pirate in the race to find the One Piece, and then it will be World Government vs. Pirates after they discover what the treasure is and learn the truth of what happened during the Void Century. It wouldn't make sense to learn the truth after the World Government has already been dealt with, and the world can't be free if the WG and CD are still reigning over everybody.

So, I think the final confrontation will be Pirates vs World Government, armed with whatever the One Piece is, be it information, a powerful weapon, etc.

Imu, the Gorosei, the God's Knights, and what's left of a fractured Marine Corps will face down Luffy and all the allies he's made throughout the entire series in the war Oda mentioned that will make Marineford look like a joke.

Then, after the world is free, Luffy will be recognized as the Pirate King, as he will be the person who most represents freedom.
