34. Beat a game with an animal lead

Crash Bandicoot (Remake)

Crash 3 is one of my favourite games, and while I've played parts of the second game, I had no experience with the original before this. Everything I read said that it was very hard, at least in comparison to the sequels, but I didn't think it could be that much more difficult.

After going through all the time trials on my way to the Platinum trophy, all I can say is:

Fuck Crash 1.

I have done all that I can to stop an SSW threat. Where my fears were once of a hostile takeover, I know see that none of the SSW superstars that I've faced pose a threat to me or my title.

CPU does. We've gone through a war of words, and he's chosen to blindside me, as others have before. As I said before my match at KotB, there will be retribution. I'm not in the position to tell anyone when, and with my Undisputed Title being my top priority, I can't make any promises of a swift solution. Rest assured, though, a solution there will be.

Now, speaking of the immediate present, a heartfelt congratulations goes out to Strife on becoming our newest King of the Board. As someone who, over the last year, has gone through many career firsts, I can imagine how it feels to finally realize goals.

The pleasantries end there, though. I've had enough run-ins with Strife to know that anything involving him is anything but easy, and I expect, in the lead-up to our battle, to be hit with everything in his arsenal, both physically and mentally.

At the end of the day, however, I am the Undisputed Champion. I have beaten Strife when championship gold was on the line, and I'll do it again.

Enjoy your coronation, and the bright lights that come with it, because the feeling of being on top of the world that you feel today is not one that will be replicated anytime soon.

I only buy games I'm extremely excited about and that I believe will last me awhile at full price, as well as sports games and the occasional shooter because those are best experienced at launch.

Otherwise I wait for price drops and sales. Generally, when a game hits $30, I pull the trigger.

The result is that I play 4-5 AAA games a year when they're released, with everything else usually being from the year before.

CPU attacked me, because what else was he going to do? That seems to be a recurring theme around here for people who oppose me who don't get their way. I beat my SSW opponents. I stated my case, multiple times. I let my grievances be known, and I politely issued a request.

The response? A blindside attack. Once again, I pay the price for someone else not being able to handle either my success in the ring or what I say on the mic. At this point, my quarrel with SSW is all but over. I've said my piece, time and time again. I've won my matches, time and time again. If neither of those things are going to result in anything being done, then it's out of my hands.

CPU attacked me, though, and I'm not just going to let it fly. This will come to a resolution, but not tonight.

Tonight, my friends, is King of the Board, and your Undisputed Champion of the World is in the main event once again defending his title!

This time, my mindset is a little different, though. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not as prepared for my match as I was the last few times around. SSW drama and a last minute victory from Stifled has left me with little time to research and get ready for battle.

The thing is, it doesn't matter, because Stifled doesn't want this title, not nearly as much as I do. Sure, he's been here before, and sure, he outlasted every other top superstar in the company to earn this shot, but right now, in the small little bubble of time we're in, he's not as ready to be the top guy in the company as I am.

I've made it my mission as champion to represent this company well. I've done that with main event caliber matches and by striving to protect this company to the best of my ability, whereas Stifled has rode along, quietly performing to expectations, not really setting himself apart from the pack.

At the level of the Undisputed Title there are no easy opponents. Stifled is just as capable physically as DP and Sultan were, and I expect nothing less than a close match as we fight to the finish. Mentally, though, this fight is already over.

Does anyone remember that "My name is Mayo" game, where it was essentially marketed as a way to get a quick, hour long platinum? Well, "***** 1000 Top Rated" has that easily beat. My time from first trophy to platinum was 8 minutes.

This barely qualifies as a game, but I'm not above paying $1 for some sweet trophies. It's one of those sliding tiles puzzle games, but you only have to start 10 and beat 5 of them in total. The trailer markets the game as the world's fastest platinum, if you'd like to know where the developer's head was at when making it.

I made this topic because I know there are a few trophy hunters on B8 that might be interested in this.

Highest playtime is H1Z1 with 2 hours.

I'm in the process of re-learning how to use a mouse and keyboard for gaming, of which I'm laughably bad at. I managed to get most of the key bindings down, but in the 15 or so battle royales I've played, I've yet to get a kill, and only managed to hit someone once. I'm bad with a mouse.

(I also briefly tried using a controller but the game is definitely not optimized for it and I didn't fare any better)

There's a lot to think about after what transpired on RUIN last night, both for me, and for every superstar in the UCA today.

As much as CPU might have been the whole reason we ended up in this SSW mess in the first place, there were some underlying truths to the words he spoke, and he was not wrong in pointing out the current state of our company and our stagnation.

Of course, I'm not going to stand here and preach the same words that the man I opposed spoke of for the last few months, but it is something to think about. Undoubtedly, CPU was wrong in his approach, but I don't think I'd be the only one to say that he was an individual unlike anything we've seen in the UCA in a long time, and if he is truly gone, we have a tough hole to fill.

At the end of the day, the UCA's victory is a double-edged one. This is, of course, if CPU's word were true and we really have seen the last of both him and SSW. If that is the case, then we, as a federation, have succeeded in driving away an unwanted invasion, and have proved that, while small in stature, there are some of us who can and will come together when we are needed most to defend our territory.

The other side of this edge, though, is the ever-growing knowledge that we are in fact going through a rough time. I'm not going to stand here as the top guy in the company and as the Undisputed Champion and tell you that I have all the answers. My next step involves getting back into the mindset of a Champion as I prepare for a future title defense against an unknown opponent, but I will leave everyone with this:

We have seemingly won the war, but would you really call it a victory?

It wouldn't be a proper episode of RUIN if it didn't involve the Undisputed Champion taking on a bundle of SSW talent, or not, because I don't think anyone other than CPU really knows who the company actually employs.

Regardless, once again, a potential small victory for the UCA is the B-story here today. CPU and I have exchanged pleasantries for what seems like months at this point, both in official and unofficial capacities, and, frankly, it's getting a bit tiring having two opposing views constantly butt heads, with no resolution in sight.

So I'll make an attempt to get to the point here.

I'd say the sides are clear here, but they aren't. I'd then probably say that the motives are apparent, but they aren't really either, are they? Regardless, what we do know is that, for the most part, CPU and I are on opposite sides of the coin when it comes to which federation we truly believe in. We can attempt to parse CPU's true allegiances and intentions, but then he and I would just continue to argue amongst ourselves with no end in sight.

Getting back to that point I promised I'd attempt to make: Whatever you're doing, and whatever your intentions, we can all clearly see it isn't working. So then the question on all of our minds becomes: Why?

See, from what I gather here, CPU does want us to succeed. There may also be some miscommunication going on with him and the SSW higher-ups, but that's likely a whole other can of worms. The thing is, though, is this SSW thing is both not helping us "grow" as well as providing a thorn into some of our sides. Not only do we not like SSW, but whatever they're supposed to be doing is not working, so, again, why?

Why are they still here? Why do they continue to make an effort when they're clearly facing resistance? Why do they continue to show up when the numbers continue to stagnate?

I'd say I'm looking for answers here, but I think we're past the point of trying to explain it all. What I'm really looking for is the right words to say:

11. Beat a game made by a developer you like

Mario Kart 7

Got the true ending.

If you don't count Yugioh, which was the last game I beat, where I only really finished the final 10% from where I left off of last year, I can't recall a time in the last few years where I've gone so long in between "finishing" games. More than ever, it seems like I'm playing games that have no real ending, like Gwent and H1Z1, and various mobile games.

I thought I'd make a run at fully completing a list, and while I'm essentially on pace being halfway there in June, if I don't start making an effort I won't get close.

Because while the small victories are nice, the top competitor in the UCA today is all about winning the war, and you better believe that I'll be taking a few steps toward that on Ruin.

Seriously though, I only read DC but it seems like every time I become interested in potentially reading Marvel something is going on that resets every book at #1, and as someone who buys physical issues every week, that isn't what I'm looking for.
