Castlevania 2: Belmont's Revenge (GB)
Perhaps a little easier but the final boss seems really ridiculous until you develop a strategy.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch)

Gold on every cup in every class, 3 stars on every 150cc and mirror cup, beat every 150cc staff ghost, and unlocked everything, including Gold Mario and all gold parts. The only things left are 3 stars on 200cc cups and the 200cc staff ghosts, but I think unlocking everything and getting the changing title screens counts as beaten, even if it's not 100%.

Citadale: The Legends Trilogy (Wii U)

Was surprised to see this in the eShop. I got a discount of it cause I owned the first game (Citadale: Gate of Souls). It comes with the first game (Gate of Souls) along with 2 other games: Curse of Darkness and Legacy of Fate.

These games...are heavily inspired (ripped off) of the linear Castlevanias right down to the designs, gameplay and the simple story.

First game was glitchy as hell and I made a few posts about finding bugs on Miiverse for it's standalone release.

Curse of Darkness and Legacy of Fate were a tiny bit better but not by much. The characters you play have a better reaching attack compared to Gate of Souls and it had some decent chip tunes compared to the first game.

I wouldn't really recommend it even if you're really starving for something even remotely trying to resemble Castlevania.

It's certainly a very unique experience. Would not recommend if you hate trial and error and repetition. Conceptually, it's brilliant; you get to learn something new about a groundhog loop so you can use that knowledge for future runs until you get the optimal true ending. When put to practice however, the repetitive grind slowly dawns on you and it boils down to how well you can memorize previous steps in an elaborate equation.

Thematically, it's hilarious. I mean if you're into dark humor and gore. The big boobed teacher is my favorite character.

Lol, I may try it at sometime in the future

However make sure to get the original and not BFG version because of the flashlight stuff.

Wasn't the flashlight stuff the biggest complaint about the original version?

Metroid II: Return of Samus (3DS VC)

Yeah I used a map for 80% of the game and a guide for a few parts but god damn it this game needed a map. If it had a map I would have gone through organically like all the great 2D metroid games. Mostly played this to see how the remake compares. And just to finally play this game in general.
