Can confirm I got nothing when I went up a rank.

They just released a statement though. Looks like they'll be "improving" the ranked rewards, and also giving everyone the rewards from Silver to Gold to all the people who went from Plat to Gold.

Yeah, so I read the issue now and that's exactly what happened to me. I started my duel during season 1, and it ended after season 2 started, so I mistakenly received the rewards I would have gotten from Gold V to Plat 3.

So the 800 gems I got weren't extra, and I'll now receive no rewards from climbing, until I get to Plat 3.

Go look at your record of gems received. There wasn't anything telling me I got the gems, but I noticed my gem count was slightly higher than it previously was.

You also receive gems for every rank you go up as well, so I wasn't expecting anything at all. I'm thinking that, rather than these being extra reward gems, it's just the gems I would have gotten if I was climbing back up anyway.

Ranks have now reset for the new season. I went from Plat 3 to Gold 5, and also received 800 gems.

I just grinded out a 30 minute win against Eldlich, which felt extra good because fuck Eldlich.

Pretty sure there isn't anything extra for doing it all.

It's also the only solo mode that I've been unable to fully complete. Those loaner decks are just so bad.

I've finished the Duel Pass with 64 days to go. I haven't even played that much!

My god this game plays so much better on PC than console it's ridiculous. I don't understand it. It's not like it looks like an excessively demanding game. It just must be that poorly optimized.

It plays way worse on PC for me than PS5, but I also just have a regular laptop that is barely equipped to play games at all. I struggle to reach 30 frames on it.

No issues at all on PS5 for me.

I'm not sure about a gift box limit, but I think any gems in there expire after a month if not redeemed.

Does anyone have experience with how cross-progression works? I wanted to play on my Switch for the portability, but also do it on PC since it's more stable. After I link the accounts, can I seamlessly choose one or the other, or do I have to do that QR code thing every time?

It's a seamless transition. I've been switching been PC and PS5 and it's been fine.

MasterDuelMeta dot com has been great for me. There are some guides on how to play decks, but more than that there's an easy way to see all of the decks people are using, as well as different variations of said deck.

I keep seeing Madolches pop up as decks people are using on Reddit as well. Back when I played for real, it seemed like a super niche deck that I only really ever saw on YGOPRO, unless they got a whole bunch of support after 2016 that I'm just not aware of.

Now that we're at around double digit B8 players, we should get a B8 tournament going sometimes.

The duel rooms make it pretty easy to do that.

Same thing just happened to me. 5 game win streak from gold 4 to gold 3, boosted me up to plat 5.

That was my goal for the season so I can chill now.

Apparently if you go on a win streak it'll bump you up, from what I've seen on Reddit.

If anyone wants to play some games in about half an hour I'd be down.

Trying to learn how to play this deck, don't want to go into ranked and the AI is too easy.

I caved and made a deck that is relevant in this meta, Invoked Dogmatika Shaddoll. Way more expensive that any deck should be, on account of needing to pull from 3 different secret packs and having a dozen UR staples.

Now to learn how to play it! I was still playing competitively when Shaddoll was a thing so I've at least got some familiarity there.

If I didn't draw that Monarch on turn 3 I would have lost that last game. Sometimes this deck just dies if one card gets denied. Not ideal.

Domain of the True Monarchs. Makes it so that your opponent can't summon from the extra deck if you control a tribute summoned monster.

Only issue with this deck is that it'll just brick like 15% of the time and you automatically lose.

Not anymore, I lost access to my discord account after losing a phone with the authenticator app on it, while simultaneously not writing down those codes they tell you to write down just in case that exact scenario happens.

I'll be around here though, just let me know when.

I think I may have chain blocked you by chaining the other cards after the Caius, but i'm kind of rusty on the rules.

The deck isn't very fun to play against, so we can keep going until you get sick of it lol

It's a little oppressive, yeah.

Basically the only reason I've been doing so well online, kind of just kills decks if they can't remove it.

I started on PS5 for the free packs but I'm transferring over to Steam now

If you download the PS4 version to your PS5 you can also redeem the free packs on that as well. I ended up with 100 packs that way.

I'm currently having an issue with the free gem cap being 10000. I've got that, plus another couple thousand waiting in the gift box that expire in a month because I don't want to just spend them on nonsense. I have a feeling that the gems are going to be very generous at the start, but then dry out pretty quickly.

Should toss 15 random cards in there and slap 3 Pot of Extravagance in your deck.

Domain of the True Monarchs requires having zero cards in the extra deck, and so many decks just immediately die if they can't use their extra deck, unless they have an out otherwise.

My Monarch deck doesn't use an extra deck at all but that's less about it being bad and more to do with that being the gimmick of it. It's been holding it's own online though.

Yeah, and I haven't tested it but I'm almost positive you can make a secret pack reappear later by just pulling/crafting another SR/UR from it.

If you pull it, you'll also unlock the secret pack, but it's less of a crapshoot if you just craft it.

You are able to view the contents, yeah. There's an option to see what's in the pack before you open it.

If you craft an UR, you'll immediately unlock the secret pack that is associated with it, so there's no guessing involved. Craft one of the cards you need, then you can get the rest from the super pack.

The regular boosters, specifically the Master Pack, have way more cards in them than a Duel Links booster (from what I recall, I haven't played in awhile), but the system overall is way better, mainly because there was no crafting system in Duel Links. I strongly don't recommend just randomly pulling packs. It's all about unlocking the secret pack for your wanted archetype and building from there. You'll get all of the commons and rares that way, and some of the SR and UR cards. Even if you're still missing a bunch, you can break down other cards you'll never use and craft from there.

Also the monetization on it right now seems solid. I built up an entire deck with what they gave me, and I have another 9000 gems sitting around that could probably get me two more full decks. Obviously as some of these rewards start to dry up it'll be more difficult, but right now it's solid.

Tip for those starting out, I would avoid the Master Packs, or any of the main booster packs, unless you have no idea what you want to do and just want to build with what you get.

Otherwise, utilizing secret packs makes deckbuilding pretty quick. If you craft a SR or UR card, then you'll unlock the secret pack that is associated with the card, allowing you to buy from that pack and get all of the archetype. I crafted an UR Monarch, got the Monarch secret pack, and then built out the entire deck using about 3000 gems.

Not sure if there is anyone else here that still plays the modern TCG or not, but I played semi-competitively until 2016, and then a little bit of Duel Links a few years later as well as the recent game that came out, so I'm pretty well versed in most of the modern stuff, and then learned about Link Summoning.

Anyway, I've downloaded this and have gotten back into it, and man, is the TCG literally just "have and play hand traps or you lose" now? Hand traps only really started being a big thing when I stopped playing semi-competitively, but it seems like the entire game hinges on having them at this point.

I've build up a Monarch deck that would have been tier 1 in 2016, and then also added in some newer stuff to make it better, and I'm doing pretty well online so far. I haven't come across anything too crazy, but I'm sure I will at some point and will have to gear myself more towards the meta, but I'm kind of dreading the idea of having to just run hand traps or lose.
