Seeing how colossally terrible today's divisions are is all the more frustrating when you look at tomorrow's divisions, specifically Torment. I feel like 5 or 6 of the mons in there would win Kinesis straight up, and we're pretty much guaranteed to lose something decent-to-good.

Revival materia is in this game?? Wow I never found a single one, and I thought I did basically everything on my normal playthrough, besides endgame stuff. Although I did notice I had Revival Materia Earrings in my bag near the end, don't even remember getting those.

You get them a bit late, chapter 7 I think the first shows up, but eventually you can buy them from vending machines.

Barca PSG was another top match. I put Barca above PSG in my power ranking. Feel like no one else did. That looks pretty good now huh!

Ah, I didn't do that particular quest. I hate 3D Brawler so it didn't feel worth it to me.

You do get something good from the last one and if you dislike it it can be pause cheesed anyway.

I don't think I used Prayer once on first playthrough but it's definitely useful to have on all when MP Consumption is the main villain.

Other than the about, Elemental (and the elements) and Magnify are the best things imo. First Strike, Time, Barrier, Warding all very nice to have high levels of, and of course all the stat boosts help.

Can you put the HP <-> MP Swap on someone you're not using anyway and then have basically unlimited MP outside of battle? In that case that gets up there as well.

Still helps the materia preparation just having things like HD Up, MP Up, Healing, Revival, Prayer on all at all times. Precision Dodge and Steadfast Block too I would say. Revival is useless in solo sections but yeah.

I'm pretty sure Real and Barca still have the most fans in the world yeah. It's obvious they would be on different days. Then with Atletico having to play home not the same day as Madrid there is only one match left. They also keep the German teams apart this way so it's probably a win everywhere but England.

Many of the goals were top class, what a match.

Also I think they handled Cid and Vincent alright, but it's shame they're just straight up not around for the scenes in the temple. I get not playable, but they could be there in scenes and just not battle easily. It's in particular weird with how they had Vincent join you but Cid feels like the bigger loss because he isn't optional.

Well, that should at least be easy enough.

Just to finish the thing, N64 is also on there now, it was obviously a lot shorter. It doesn't have as big a library, but what is there is good. Unlike previous, Switch easily wins here, having not only the larger library but adding some crucial titles likes GoldenEye and Banjo-Kazooie among other greats. Missing a few things, but only Smash truly shines in its absense.

I think Mario World is a good candidate because I feel like it's instantly associated with the SNES. If you ask someone to name a SNES game, World is going to be the first a lot of people think of. Like it didn't do anything revolutionary (other than introduce Yoshi, I guess), but I think it's almost ubiquitous with the console, kind of in the way Mario 64 is with the N64.

Yeah, I think this is just it. It would be extremely weird to be seeing like a "greatest of SNES" selection and SMW somehow not being on there. It's pretty much the face of the system. Besides, it did introduce many main stays in Mario and has held up perfectly for over 30 years.

There's apparently a single side quest I did not perfectly execute.

Opening post spreadsheet now also includes GB and GBC comparing with only 3DS. It's a very shallow selection in comparison as well with 83 against only 21, they're sleeping on a lot of obvious stuff here. A lot of the one's on 3DS are ports of old arcade games, which early Game Boy saw a lot of releases of, but even removing that there's a lot of room to improve the NSO selection.

Oh yeah, Metroid gauntlet was supposed to be the next shared playthrough because it was fun with Breath of Fire, only MZero had a game before me lmao. But I support it.

It's actually probably the best way to go about this project in periods where you're demotivated. Choose a game and try to play it somewhat simulatanously with your online friends. Breath of Fire worked very well for that, obviously Solomon's Key isn't that long but same principle.

I brought up a similar point when people discussed FF/DQ on NES but neither made it. I wouldn't complain if any of them made it on, I like them a lot and it's definitely deserved, but I just thought it felt weird to have something there my SNES can't actually play and since there are super strong games in the run otherwise I brought it up.

Interestingly we did get Final Fantasy Mystic Quest out here. FFVII is the actual first FF and obviously that's the one that made releases here the standard.

Also got a mil my mother better get through whatever game she's required to lol.

I get thinking SNES should have an RPG here but not a single RPG mentioned in the topic is actually playable on my SNES. I think having no PAL release is a pretty large con and since the SNES has a top tier library even without RPGs, I think that's better. Besides, I don't think any of the RPG contenders are clear of each other.

I finished level 50. Would you grind before hard mode or is that unnecessary?

Game is finally beat!

I beat the game. Very pleased they did not in fact revert Aerith death. This multiverse stuff might be a please everyone and have the cool characters around in some capacity but whatever. They keep a good job making me doubt it would happen and keep the suspense. Also I thought I had heard somewhere this game would not actually reach that point before it came out but maybe I was mistaken.

The worst theories/hopes the past four years were by far the "Tifa dies instead" ones and it's nice getting that deconfirmed after having told people for almost 4 years that there would literally be 0% chance. Not only is it completely random it's also the party member with the smost plot relevance in the rest of the game not named Cloud and they even started hinting towards Tifa knowing Cloud remembers things wrong this game which was not resolved.

Overall very happy. It's close to perfect. A few sections drag a bit, some stuff is a bit too messy, but I even enjoyed every single minigame not called Cactuar Crush. What a ride that was.

This is a tough call, and it comes down to the fact that Flygon may be the best, but Drilbur/Excadrill and Sandile/Krokorok/Krookodile all beat out the next-best from Gen III in Numel/Camerupt/Groudon, so I have to give the win to Gen V here.

Spot on with every name here. Conflicted about conclusion.

It was just a pretty good division I think.

This is often the case, but I think giving Dartrix the awkward teenage vibe makes it less of an afterthought. Whether people like it or not is a different case.

Oh this is actually not the reason, I just have a super inconsistent schedule usually that can keep me gone basically for two days straight occasionally. Thanks though, I am still considering.

In UotY you had to do full votes but that was also so you couldn't play the game by avoiding the negatives, but that wasn't the issue now so who knows.

How long did it run for last time?
