I honestly don't mind the genies, but they're carried pretty hard by their non humanoid forms

Seeing how colossally terrible today's divisions are is all the more frustrating when you look at tomorrow's divisions, specifically Torment. I feel like 5 or 6 of the mons in there would win Kinesis straight up, and we're pretty much guaranteed to lose something decent-to-good.

occasionally I feel the need to point out that I was at one point intending to seed r1, but when I had trouble finding good data to do so, the majority opinion was to full rando

after r1 everything's pretty much based on previous round performance though!

Oh to be clear I absolutely agree that randomizing the divisions was the best way to do this, and the fact that some divisions end up heavily unbalanced is unavoidable. I'm not trying to criticize on that point and apologize if it came off that way.

Mostly just wanted to comment on the juxtaposition of with arguably the worst division in the whole round with one of the strongest the next day.

This whole format is a relicanth of the past.

No real duds today, so I just picked something that I thought had a more 'meh' performance than I expected.

Fun facts today: I don't know how often this happens, but it's definitely not often - Lampent didn't receive ANY negative votes today! 16 positive votes and 0 negative votes. Raichu almost repeated this feat, but did take a single -1, unfortunately.

Also, I'm pretty confident that -40 is the worst second-chance score yet. We won't be seeing Melmetal get another chance, I'm afraid.

huge fan of SOUL-STEALING 7-STAR STRIKE division. Not just the name, but I like all the mons in it. Struggled to pick who got negatives.

my friend found a bunch of these really awful stickers in the back of the warehouse of the comic shop I used to work at. there were a ton of them like this, and while most of them did feature Pikachu in some capacity, the rest were all highlights of really odd Pokemon for a sticker pack, like this Graveler one that I fell in love with and took for myself

The entire pack was obviously made before it was set in stone what the "core" Pokemon for marketing would be, so you get Graveler with kissy faces instead of any stickers at all with Charizard. this is what I would consider a "golden age" of Pokemon

I think this era is reflected well in the KFC toys also. you got all 151 original Pokemon to choose from, but it's so early and untested in the US that they go with... Zubat, Vulpix, Seel, Dratini. Uhhhh yeah those four all had serious staying power. Just like getting toys at KFC
