I'm getting more hyped about this as time goes on, I think this trailer was much better than the first (although admittedly pretty spoilery). I'm surprised at how much they're pushing the story up front this time, I'm glad it doesn't seem to just be a rehash of the old games to play it safe after what happened with Other M.

And judging from these comments it seems I should try to get Samus Returns before this comes out!

I thought Energy Parts were new, but after checking I see they were an Other M exclusive until now. Hey, that game hasn't been forgotten entirely!

I don't want to spoil myself too much but it's gonna be hard to not watch that trailer.

Glados and Aeris both got in through immunes alone, and Bowser is probably getting in over Dedede. The only proper underdogs I think are Bleck and maybe Kyle or Missile (but those two are arguable).

Tomorrow should be a Samus v Snake fight but if anyone's going to make up that lost immune ground it's Phoenix, especially now Edgey is out of the picture!

Yeah I'm not into sequence breaking but it's cool that they're aiming for it this time. And it's a good indicator of the level design being strongly thought out and the world being all nice and interconnected!

I didnt want to say anything because I didnt want to influence the voting, but people booting Bleck and immuning anyone other than Missile did not have a winning strategy.

It was so painful watching multiple people immune Shulk and boot Bleck. I wanted so badly to tell them the mistake they were making!

Shulk was so close to surviving another day and having a reasonably possible shot at getting through. Once again lefty kills my fav character at the very last second :(

As with all other cases of trying to control language to replace a natural and accepted term with a new, prescribed one: good luck with that!

This. People already use Metroidvania, attempting to change its name is as pointless as trying to change 'roguelike' or 'role-playing game'. Most genre names are a little ambiguous at best, but they become popular and that's what sticks! I really don't get the fuss people make over this one particular name.

The difference is that this Nintendo post is a formally published article and Metroidvania is a made up term. They (Nintendo) aren't trying to "replace" anything.

Nintendo uses the term Metroidvania. In multiple news articles on Switch they have used it to promote a list of games on sale or whatever, and they explain briefly what the genre generally includes. Microsoft also uses the term officially for similar things on Xbox, despite there not even being any Metroids available on that platform! And as Kenri and MZero say, this article is not an official translation and so might not even be accurate.

This one is a timeline with some interesting dev notes. It notably says that Dread will have options to sequence break like Super did, so it won't be linear like Fusion!

The Super Metroid game can be said to offer the greatest flexibility for exploration in the series. You can enjoy similar flexibility in the Metroid Dread game, depending on how you take advantage of your abilities. You might be able to find ways to obtain weapons, items, and abilities earlier than the intended timing. We encourage you to try to discover alternate routes of exploration.

There's also a video at the bottom showing a glimpse of things to come, looks like they're going all in on the lore!

I think Snap is definitely in its own tier here, Golf/Tennis just seem to be following the usual updates that sports games do and the compromise is that they launched without very many options (haven't played either, just going off of what I've heard). Snap's seems to be a legit substantial update to a game that was already far from lacking in content, I am very pleasantly surprised they put it out for free instead of getting some easy DLC bucks.

I imagine the reason for this is the new Mario Party coming out this year, they must've figured out how to do online and then decided to toss it on the old one.

I think the idea of Boot/Immune is to measure popularity in a different way. There's plenty of rounds where we can give negative points to characters we don't like and average them out, this is a more... focussed round I guess, only measuring pure love and hate!
