Not that I had plans to go there imminently; it just drives things home. For the record, even jurors in a criminal trial are not supposed to convict someone just because they think the person is guilty. It's just that a lot of the people who agree with that now were criticizing the Texas Lt. Gov for essentially saying the same thing several weeks ago when he said "There's more important things than living." I know that other people have been down on SMB3 in this topic, but I think that long term SMB3 is in a better position. The Mario games are older, but 2D platforming is still relevant today. Hell, 2D Mario platforming is still relevant today. On the other hand, I don't know how many games like LttP are around. I wouldn't say it's old-fashioned per se; visually it looks fine, and the core Zelda mechanics are still there. I think someone used to more modern games would still enjoy it. However, being the definitive 2D Zelda game carries a lot less weight when they haven't been making 2D Zelda games/clones in 15 years. Sure SMB3 can feel like ancient history, but the genre it's part of is not, and I think that being an exemplar of its genre is as much a key to its strength as any sort of NES nostalgia. --- Congrats on Advokaiser for winning the 2018 Guru Contest! The reason that American politics seemed so stable for so long was because a huge portion of the populace was politically restrained for 100 years due to the Civil War. Some people came to the colonies as they saw it as an opportunity for religious and other freedoms, while others just saw it as a way to make a quick buck for hemselves, **** everyone else, and I don't think this has ever been truly reconciled. --- Congrats on Advokaiser for winning the 2018 Guru Contest! The difference is that Iceland has institued a massive testing regimen. I know it's "a lot of work," but we already know how testing people works, and building up the capacity to test the entire population every two weeks or so is, IMO the least invasive, most straightforward way to bring things back to a sense of normalcy until a vaccine or treatment arrives. --- Congrats on Advokaiser for winning the 2018 Guru Contest! Tifa had around 145,000 votes or something crazy like that. 2010 was a gamble, but I think that the average AM match was around 55000 voted and the average PM match was around 75000 so I think it might come close to 2008. | Yesmar_ 05/12/20 10:47:46 PM #211 | The vulnerability with Undertale as opposed to Draven is that not all reblogs are equal, while on Reddit an upvote is an upvote. There were a handful of Tumblrs with huge fanbases that were key to helping spread the rally, and if some of them like the other game and snub Undertale one day, the rally will slow. Maybe not enough, but the big ones came through every match so it's hard to tell what would have happened. The most important Tumblr in this respect was a Pokemon-based one where the blogger would make custom Pokemon sprites for people. Whenever their rallies fell off the front of their Tumblr, Undertale would drop off, but then the person running the Tumblr would make a new rally post, and the votes would surge. The trends for Undertale's matches all moved around this one Tumblr, and while it's easy to look at things like this purely mathematically, sometimes it all comes down to the personal.
