I'm gonna go to bat for T2 over Terminator 1 here. Aside from being the more popular movie, time travel feels much more relevant to the central theme of the film. Being able to change the future/the future is not written in stone may not be some unique insight, but T2 deals it with more than the original from what I recall.

I'm not a comic book guy, but I don't see the Heath Ledger Joker as being a notably different interpretation either. I know someone's gonna come in with a bunch of extra knowledge, and I'm sorry, but if you were to ask a random person on the street they would not be able to make any meaningful distinction between the various Jokers.

All that said, Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker, and everything surrounding it is an iconic enough part of film history, that I think it's fine to put on the Rushmore. I disagree that it fits within "the rules," but I think the rules can be bent in this case.

I also want to throw out an honorable mention to Mr. Potter, who hasn't been named yet, and who would probably be number one on my personal list.

LTTP is widely considered one of the best games of all time by pretty much all parts of the gaming community. Whenever a non GameFAQS site has a Games Contest, LTTP is always one of the only SNES Era games to make it in and it always does fairly well

This feels surprisingly clear-cut to me. Gran Turismo 2 is the only one that I could be convinced deserves a place. Crash Bandicoot was just the PS1 playing catch-up. Imagine you go see the N64 Rushmore with SM64 there, then you turn around and see Crash Bandicoot in the PS1 exhibit. The PS1 deserves better.

I don't think there's much debate for which GTA game gets the spot unless you're voting for multiple games. GTA III's release is one of the biggest turning points in gaming.

Oh wait, I was wrong. SMB1 must have been the game that was mentioned in 2015, since I just unlocked a memory of people going "Do we need *another* Mario game in the bracket?" and I remember thinking, "Do we need *both* Galaxy games? It could replace one of them."

Dragon Quest III is definitely very influential and I considered it, but for me DQ1 goes beyond influencing JRPGs, and had a major impact on console games as a whole. My understanding at least, is that DQ1 was part of the wave of games (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Portopia) that really showed the scale that console games were capable of.

Zelda 1 was the game that Bacon said specifically did not make it in due to the nomination rules, IIRC.

The whole thing was silly anyway, since it seemed to have been designed to exclude League of Legends and avoid rallying (lol at that) while providing some sort of plausible deniability, but like, who cares about deniability? Just exclude the game, and if someone asks just shrug. This was a constant issue with contests where the nominations were treated as if they were a legally binding contract, and if something needed to be dropped/added there was nothing Ceej or Bacon could do about it. If there was a great idea for the Rivalry Rumble that didn't make get enough noms for example, just put it in! I don't understand why this was always such an issue.

Hmm, didn't feel it somehow, and I didn't feel the one from ~15 years ago either, albeit that one was a lot farther away.
