Most people's first thought for this one will probably just be a character they really like that they feel used to be a good bit stronger. So it won't surprise me to get a lot of difference in answers here.

Yeah, Vercetti was my first thought. In reality, it's probably some Call of Duty slug, but Vercetti's certainly fallen quite a ways.

The Call of Duty guys weren't really ever strong though. The games themselves are a good option though.

Captain John Price actually almost broke 35% on MMX in 2010, which is roughly on par with Vercetti's peak.

I dunno, Vercetti looked pretty darn pathetic when we saw him in 2013! Regardless of what you think of Crash now, getting more than doubled by him is a very bad look!

Has Sonic even fallen at all? In 2018 he was good for 54% on a strong FF character, 43% on Zelda (which looks awful until you remember that she beat Snake and Mario that year), and 42% on Snake. I don't see how that's any worse than his showings in any year except maybe 2002.

Yeah, Sonic is still at the lower edge of the Noble Nine/near elite level. He's probably not even that far behind Crono, who he beat in 2006! He might be weaker than he's ever been, but it's not like he's losing to anyone really embarrassing.

Mega Man has probably fallen further than Sonic (even though he's still stronger than him). He was pretty godly in those first few years.

Sonic vs. Pikachu might actually be a really good match up next time around, since the rat is right around that territory.

In terms of actual relative strength, I'd take Pikachu to do better than Sonic on almost any opponent at this point, but icon vs. icon matches of characters close in strength are always tricky and Sonic could very well reign supreme.

I dunno. I feel like Sonic could've replicated any of Pikachu's 2018 performances, or come pretty darn close. I'd actually be more worried about Pikachu having the edge in a close match because Pokemon usually (although not always) wins those.
