worse than that Reg, CE is at the forefront of this issue because that's where a lot of are the mods come and where a lot of things get modded, partially because it's where a lot of people went to after the politics boards were killed.

The mods being CE-leaning has always been a bit of an issue for me, it unbalanced the way issues were presented and I think was key to this out-of-touch change. That's not really anybody's fault - it's the biggest social board, most mod apps come from there, etc - but I think it has been an indirect part of this.

Reading between the lines, I'm not sure the endgame for Fandom is eliminating the site, but rather eliminating *us* the users. They want a younger, "hipper," crowd, and they think that if they can "reorient" the site to be all about gaming they can do that. None of their recent changes will do that of course, since none of the boards where people discuss politics are visible to new users, but this was probably some order from a sales/management person that doesn't understand how the boards work. They just told someone to remove politics and this was the compromise result. People are trying to get a "why" out of DToast in that second Feedback topic, but he didn't come up with this idea and he didn't want it, so he's not going to be able to provide anything.

The reason why Fandom doesn't care about us ultimately isn't because they don't care about their customers (although I'm sure it's some of that.) It's that they don't even see us as customers.

The picture has been painted that CE is the only social board. It's the most active for sure, but it's also the worst. That's what has pissed me off the most - we as a community agreed to essentially contain politics to one topic. B8 has - eventually, it got pretty bad there for a while, but eventually - handled political discussions far more effectively than CE has. But CE keeps political discussion and we're just beneath Fandom's notice apparently.

It also doesn't cover the regional boards. 313 is pretty popular and covers a very specific and local brand of politics. So now they need to go to CE to post there too, oh wait, maybe they can't because they never go there, so now they're just...what, locked out of any reasonable discussion on the site?

The answer is "sort of yes but not really". Fandom doesn't want political discussion anywhere, hence the removal of 261 last year. Keeping political discussion until now has been "reasonable" on their part.

I think they do this on purpose, you know. Start rumour buzz on social media, then exceed expectations. They hinted Momoa for Knuckles, who was good, and then got Elba, who was way better. Hinted at Christensen for Shadow which would have been fine, got Keanu, even better.

Also there was a ton of little things, my favorite of which was Cody's attempts to hit multiple Cross Rhodes

Solo stopped him after 2 last year, Rock stopped him after 2 last night, then tonight he hit 1 and got kicked by Jimmy, then 2, looked around waiting to be hit and still got hit by Solo in the one place he couldn't look (directly behind), then finally got all 3

That also means he hit like 7 Cross Rhodes in total because I think there was one before(?) the run-ins, but like, that's how you do finisher spam right

I mean we're using the word overbooking but given the story it just felt like...booking

Like they had a match the night before to basically say "yes, this match will have a ton of interference", and then almost everybody that interfered made complete sense

also yes there was a very well-worked 20m match in there before things went crazy, though I guess it was slightly flat because everyone was just waiting for the run-ins

I don't want to harp on about it too much but that really showed how fanservice can be a good thing and also how it can be a hollow thing

Like HHH vs. Sting, that was bad fanservice. Like I guess I was still entertained by the clusterfuck, but for all of a few minutes. There was nothing to really appreciate beyond the initial dopamine hit of nostalgia. That story was about Sting as a vigilante fighting HHH's corrupt leadership, not digging up WWE vs. WCW or DX vs. NWO 15 years later. They crowbarred that in because it was WM and people would pop for those guys showing up/the two different theme songs, but it was hollow and stupid

Tonight, we saw an example of what I would say is bad fanservice with Taker's appearance, because it didn't serve the story whatsoever and is really the only hair in that soup. He hasn't been fucked by the bloodline, lost to Reigns at WM 7 years ago... yeah I don't buy his "vengeance" here unless you play fast and loose with him being the "conscience of wwe" coming back to put an end to Reigns' nonsense. Even then, it still just feels a bit off - since everyone else involved was far more relevant to the Bloodline. That said, if Austin was the plan that wouldn't have been any better. You get the visual of Austin and Rock facing off, and yeah cool we get to see Rock oversell the stunner again, but every other interference in the match made storyline sense - all the faces had been fucked over by the Bloodline, including the ones that came in after the match was over (Punk being there in the post-match was also a bit silly and off-theme, but not really a big deal). And then there was just...Taker. Or what should have been Austin. Sure? It just felt like one thing too many. Brock actually makes more sense in that spot (but was not an option), and even HHH.

Meanwhile, Rollins appearing in his Shield gear and psyching out Roman was the good kind of fanservice that served the story. The long-term storytelling of Roman taking his eye off the ball because Rollins was there in Shield gear was perfect, but you also get the cool pop of the music and that nostalgic dopamine hit of the music etc.

I was sold on all of the hilarious overbooking except Taker, which didn't fit the theme of "people the bloodline fucked over" at all

I consider Tomb Raider a near-lock tbh. Despite sales, GT is the one I'd lose there but I get the argument for having it over RE/RE2 (which was my first thought)

I think it says a lot that I just found out that the ME went 45 minutes and was genuinely surprised. It did not feel that long at all to me.

I don't think there's much debate for which GTA game gets the spot unless you're voting for multiple games. GTA III's release is one of the biggest turning points in gaming.

Yeah I want to go with SA but it'd be pointless now and the arguments for 3 make a lot of sense

I keep seeing a bunch of posts about a $22 birria burrito in SF. When I see how many people are outraged about it, I wonder if they would be similarly outraged by a $22 sandwich that advertised itself as a wagyu brisket sandwich with an artisan bun baked in-house. I also wonder how many of those same people would say that a banh mi should be no more than $3.50, while not applying the same standards to other sandwiches.
