Paragraph 1 has me scratching my head a little. I need to know how "right to work" is one of the things that weakened unions. Same with "at will" employment. He just throws those out there.

I don't understand how a group representing 60 people at the table costs less than representing 65 people at the table (even if 5 of them aren't members). Obviously it brings in less dues, but it isn't much, if any more work I would think. (Right To Work)

For at will states I'm kind of lost too. Even in at will states it's illegal to fire people if they are talking about or trying to form a union. I'm not naive enough to think that employers won't give another reason for the firings but I'm not understanding how this butchered unions.

I'm pro union, but I am just not understanding some of this.

My parents taught me but I also took driving lessons. If you took driving lessons you could take the license test from the instructor instead of having to go to the DMV and wait in line.

I bought it a while ago but finally started playing it last week. I made a character and got about 5 hours in before watching a "tips" video and realizing I had messed up some stuff. Started a new guy and the planet next to mine was a paradise planet. Did some googling and found out those might be kind of rare. I made my base on there and am still working on it.

It's fun so far but there is a lot I'm still trying to figure out. In the anomaly I found an item in my inventory that was worth 50 million credits. found out that can randomly happen when passerbys drop them for new players or soemthing. At first I felt like it was kind of cheating but I upgaded my multi-tool to one that probably has more slots that I will use. I also traded in my first ship for a new B class fighter that had a good amount of inventory spaces.

I noticed you can upgrade your exosuit slots at different merchants. I assumed you could rebuy from the same place every so often but I guess that isn't the case. I have to fly to a whole new system to find a trading post to buy a new upgrade. I'll probably spend some time doing that since I want more tech slots.

Base building is kind of cool. I like the pre-fab big ass square and circular rooms but I wish there was more ability to build that look more freehand. The wood doesn't look good, maybe the stone or the third one do.

I notice there's underwater building but I'm not sure if that's really required or not. I'll have to play more to find out.

Because I have way more important concerns than "did the 1 dollar I just put in this guys cop actually get spent on something worthwhile or not" When I spend a dollar at a store I don't stand around asking them when they are going to go deposit it in the bank and ask them to show me where they dollar will be spent. Sometimes it will go to paying an employee, sometimes it will go to the boss to buy coke and hookers.

It's wild that you're going on about homeless people but drug addicts who ask their family for money for bullshit and end up spending it on drugs.

Or the government who says this money is for X but spends on on something totally different.

I'm sure there's some people who wouldn't vote for her because she's a woman.
But she won't get elected because a majority of people don't agree with her some of her policies. Even some in her own party.

Retroarch killed Duckstation.

I've had more luck with the Duckstation app than a core in Retroarch but that could just be because of hardware limitations.

It wasn't just the game, it was the offbeat strategy guide and the scratch and sniff stickers. It was a whole collection of things that made this game great to me when I was younger. Now I like it because it's still easy to go back and play.

For some reason I unironically love the US version. Always have ever since I first saw it in a game magazine way back in the day. It's strange and makes you look at the back of the box for sure.

The only way this is a first grade test is if it's an extra credit problem the teacher puts in to see who the smart people are in their class. You aren't expected to get it because you haven't quite learned how to do it yet.

Absolutely was. Michael Crichton wrote both Jurassic Park and Congo and they probably figured well if he wrote one book that became a world famous movie maybe another of his would be. It wasn't. Crichton had a whole slew of books turned into less than stellar movies but some have a cult following Like Sphere or Timeline. Or some were just straight up movies he wrote that are popular like Twister.

I've worked in insurance before and I've seen employers have the coverage where a diagnosis has to be considered an emergency for it to be covered. Ambulance ride because you're having a panic attack? Probably not life or death and not covered if you go to the emergency room. Ambulance ride because you cut off a leg with a chainsaw? Covered.

How would ANYONE get coverage for an ambulance ride to get Plan B?

Some of them you can't. IIRC they got tired of people coming to certain topics and flooding it with dumb shit so they made certain topics "Black People Country Club" or something like that where you have to be black to post in them. I just checked the top 5 current posts right now and none of them are marked that way. It happens but it isn't every post.

Edit: I'm wrong. There is a flair for these topics, i was just looking for a stickied post in the thread. Of the top 5, 3 are country club. But of the top 20 or so it's still the same 3.

I'm 6'4 and currently 249. Used to be up around 360. At 250 I still have some chunk but I feel a lot better weighing 110 pounds less than I used to.

She chose me some Russian book that I can't remember and haven't read yet but want to. I chose Chesapeake by James Michener for her. Just finished Keep the Aspidistra Flying, which wasn't really my style.

I've been reading much more this year than I did last year. Whenever I have a lot of work on my plate, I feel like I'm "wasting time" by reading when I "should be" working, which is not true at all. But it's a mental hurdle I need to constantly overcome. And my work schedule has been crammed recently. But now I'm forcing myself to take breaks and read more again. I just need to keep it up.

Good for you! I feel like doing ANY reading is good, even if it's not as much as you'd like to be doing right now.

I'm making my way through The Expanse, currently on the fifth book and almost done.

Great series

I've read all but the last two books. That is on my list to finish. I'll probably start on book 2 and go through to the end. I've read book 1 twice and listened to it on audible. I really enjoyed the series.

38 percent (rounded up) haven't read a single book in the past year. This seems high to me. Maybe it's because Covid lockdowns have ended and people are out more or something. Or maybe the number is always that low. I read every night before bed and over this past weekend I laid in my hammock in the woods up at camp and read a lot.

Anyways, I'm currently reading a book I bought a while ago but haven't gotten around to yet.

I'm learning a lot from it. And I'm seeing a couple similarities in the police response to this compared to Uvalde. And it's crazy all the misinformation that was picked up by media and reported, like the whole Trench Coat Mafia thing.

I still hear the excuse "well maybe the movers did it." No, and this is evidence that they didn't. These documents have cover pages on them and the movers are trained to know what to take. This isn't some big moving company that was hired to do it.
