The art, the music, the characters.

combat isnt anything special but it is just like original DQ.

Earthbound is forever in my top 3 because its very nostalgic back to my childhood.

I remember I spent an entire summer with the game because it came out in June. I wish I had the box, guide and cartridge still.

The writing and the dialogue. It's hard to make something 30ish years old that's still funny today. The difference between good writing like in Earthbound and referential memes like Borderlands 2 is what gives a game comedic longevity.

Among other things, I like how fun it is to just explore the first several towns. I don't even need a reward, I just wanna explore every nook and cranny.

It's hard to pin down one thing. It had a quircky charm for being one of few modern set rpgs but was still able to present a fanciful world that kept you on your toes on what to expect next while offering a fair bit of humor for what should be a very daunting adventure.

It wasn't just the game, it was the offbeat strategy guide and the scratch and sniff stickers. It was a whole collection of things that made this game great to me when I was younger. Now I like it because it's still easy to go back and play.
