I still don't necessarily understand what is so hard about writing a 3 hour wrestling show still. Like, take out commercials and you're down to maybe 2.25 hours, if that. And then add in match times where the writers are largely uninvolved for the most part except for a finish. Take out time for entrances and stuff too and promotional videos and that takes even less time out. So they have 30+ people there to write awful dialogue for people and figure out a general storyline direction? It sounds like the whole creative process is seriously fucked up somewhere.

I mean, it's definitely harder than most TV in that you gotta fill atleast 2.25 hours every single week with literally no normal "seasons" to create downtime in between, and you gotta do so by taking into account that people will or will not react the way you are hoping to and things may or may not need to be changed on the fly, whether because of that or an injury or who knows what else.

So is it likely very difficult? Yes.

Is it anywhere near as difficult as they seem to be making it, or too difficult for a company that has as much money as WWE? Absolutely not.

Okay I think we're agreeing in general, just for different reasons. I think the writers sucking is the fault of management rather than the writers themselves.

And I'm too lazy to grab the '34 camera cuts in 32 seconds Smackdown beatdown' but yes the camerawork is like Kevin Dunn watched the worst TNA camera work from like a decade ago and went 'what if I make this even worse'.

Ever go see an improv performance? A small group of players can make up multiple hours a show multiple times a week. It's not hard.

And you know what? You're not writing a three hour show. You're writing what should be - at most - an hour show. The rest is wrestling or simple angles presented in sentences. "Randy Orton puts Rey Mysterio through announcers desk post-match." That was really hard to write. You have absolutely NO excuse. Vince isn't an excuse. You can write well and still cater to Vince. I'm sorry, but it's true. Yes, the content may be immature and stupid, but it can still be dressed up with good writing. And it can still get over everyone involved.

I'll also throw in camera work. It's shoddy, terrible, and it ruins backstage segments every time. That, too, needs to be reworked. But it's the writing. When you are bankrupt of creative expression, it doesn't matter what Vince says or does.

Okay and how many of those improv shows are done by people with little experience because where they work is so awful that their average co-worker lasts like 6 weeks?

This. The only thing the cruiserweights have is being small. Their work is very normal. Being small only helps if you're extremely small.

Just like how being big isn't enough to really help get over if you're Big Cass's size and work like a normal person instead of Braun Strowman's.

This was some of it. But the trends have been clear for a while now. Samus is getting more popular (directly) relative to Mario. Today just wasn't past the inflection point. Unless Mario has a good boost (that Samus doesn't) soon, Samus will outright pass Mario, and very soon.

Samus is going to drop relative to Mario (compared to today) as Smash Ultimate immediate release excitement dies down, which helps her more than it helps Mario, especially with Metroid having possibly the most hyped newcomer.

Like, maybe Metroid Prime 4 will recover that in time, but that still puts her below Mario.

This was Samus with everything she had, and it lost. Anyone who thinks Samus is beating Mario is delusional. Cloud beating Link in the near future is more likely.
