I like most of the FF8 crew before Rinoa shows up.

I care more about party balance than individuals, so with the FF8 crew you had the lead, the smart person, the goof, and the other goof (who also turns out to be a psycho). That's a quality party if you ask me. Then Rinoa and Irvine show up and it becomes a jumbled mess because we have the person who is incompetent at his one thing (say what you will about any character you dislike, but 'is bad at their thing' is the worst character trait to have), and everyone taking a backseat to Rinoa/Squall.

Snake's Smash fans fold to Samus. Snake/Samus happened like a day after a Smash game that could get people hyped for Daisy came out.

Looking for should haves or could haves through Snake/Samus is a disaster.

There are two big problems with NXT.

The first one is expectations.

If you're expected to have excellent matches and be a top star and you have show up with matches that are good or okay and are a midcarder, you're disappointing and as such your stuff isn't as enjoyable.

While if you come in as a Strowman and have okay matches, then good matches, you're seen as improving and thus it makes your growth more enjoyable.

Nakamura/Roode/Bayley/every NXT top star's endgame is to be equal to their past. Strowman's endgame is to be better than Strowman of the past, a constantly changing goal. One is definitely more interesting.

The second is that WWE seems to have it in their heads that being good in NXT at one point is enough to be over on the main roster, when in reality it's meaningless for the vast majority.

I'm not sure TNA not existing would have particularly helped ROH out. Like they would have had better talent available like Joe and Styles, but would they have been able to make any more of a push into TV than they ended up doing pre-Sinclair sale? It's not like lack of talent was ever their problem.
