The only thing I've seen is that 'Special:Create page' link (under 'add') where I type in my page's planned name. Afterwards, it takes me to a page with a 'loading' dialogue box that doesn't go away and prevents me from actually clicking anything on the page, like so:

On the bright side, heeeeeey, our first contest match that was an actual match! Some of the best matches you'll ever see are when a match with zero debate is unexpectedly close, and most of us just picked Garrus without thinking. After all, Square has looked like a Victorian slum for years and Garrus is someone we all love no matter what Mass Effect looks like. There's also the fact Ramza has never won anything and is from a game that hasn't been relevant in 20 years.

Don't even try telling me that garbage PSP port matters, either. The bonus content was cool. Bastardizing the script and that unreal animation lag made the game damn near unplayable without an outside patch, and outside patches do not affect a game's score for me. It's why Warcraft 3 will forever be 0/10 bile regardless of how much I love Dota.

When this match started and they were even, we were shocked. Then Ramza was up 28 at the freeze and it was a lot of "uh oh". Then Garrus evened things up and we all figured there was a weird early bracket vote or something.

Nope. Ramza spent the next few hours slightly ahead and trying to shake Garrus off like a bad case of fleas. Garrus held his own here, but when things settled down and we entered the dead zone of the night vote, He hit 200 at midnight and it looked like he was going to pull away for the win. After all, Square's night vote is still one trend that holds true with our new start time. As luck would have it, Ramza was only able to quickly get his lead up to 256 overnight, and it was Garrus, not Ramza, that won the night vote. Garrus kept chipping away at the ol' vote lead brick, and after a tie in the morning, the brick broke and favored Garrus pretty easily.

Garrus won the morning vote rather convincingly and ended this match, but with the match over there was still one thing left to root for in this one. A record that stood for 14 years was broken in this contest. The new one was 419 votes, at least for character battles. DKC2 vs Xenoblade is the true record at 290. 12 hour polls do not count and don't try telling me they do. Either way, whether you consider 419 or 290 the true record, both would get broken multiple times this contest thanks to our fossilized vote totals. I want to be proud of close matches, but when polls used to all get 100k+ votes and now we struggle to even hit 30k, it's sad to watch.

Speaking of sad, you guys might think I'm bummed out Ramza lost. I was a little, but there are much cooler characters in Final Fantasy Tactics. Ramza stops being interesting some time in chapter 3 when he stops being a naive kid. He pulls a Freya from FF9 and just starts kind of being there. If this match involved Delita, Orlandu, Wiegraf, Agrias, Rafalak, or even Zalbag, Mustadio, Reis, or Elmdor, I would have been sad. Ramza? Boring.

Lastly, I cannot cover this match without commenting on the obvious. This was as Pyrrhic a victory as it gets, and Mass Effect is done on our web site. I'll get into this more when I cover Shepard later, but good hell. This match never should have been close, and it wouldn't have been if Electronic Arts wasn't among the absolute worst companies in the history of this planet. I could make a very real argument that EA is more morally corrupt than Monsanto or Apple, and those companies kill people to stay ahead of the game. Look up Monsanto suing independent farmers or Apple's suicide nets in China some time. EA is on that level, and if you only stick to video games instead of geopolitics at large they are easily the worst company to ever happen in gaming. Only Blizzard is comparable.

Zen got me into picsmithing, has been a friend of mine for ages, and never one time has he had a cross or negative thing to ever say about me. Ever. The guy is an angel on a board increasingly filled with a bunch of aging, jaded assholes. He never gets negative, ever, and always finds a way to make everyone laugh during contest season. I'm not alone in feeling this way, either. We all love Zen. He wasn't just the MVP of this match, but the MVP of this entire contest. You the fuckin MAN, bro, and it needs to be immortalized in a PCA at some point. Here you go.

Nope. Not a Giant Enemy Crab, just a hedgehog. Metal Sonic can't rip tanks apart. The Boss's knife was ok, just took 10 minutes for her to get warned up and call in the MIGs to blow up the place.

In all seriousness, The Boss only getting 56% in the match and only having 55.2% prediction is an embarrassment. People are not happy with Konami and it shows. This also shows that it's past time we get Dark Link into a character battle. If Metal Sonic and Mega Man X are allowed in, why can't we finally see what Dark Link can do? It's long overdue.

Zelda got 62% on Ezio eight years ago, and Ezio had zero reason to change in strength since then. Zelda going out and just murdering the poor guy with 13 extra percents was quite a sight to see, and it ended all debate about this division outside of rally shenanigans from D.Va or Waluigi -- and that question was answered very quickly when their round 1 matches came up.

This was done, and it was positively adorable watching Leon4 pretend Squall wasn't destined to get raw dogged by a cactus in two rounds. I know LOL x stats and all, but Hat Kid and Ezio got almost the same exact score. Come on bro. I picked Squall like a doofus too, but at least I can laugh about it. Pretending Hat Kid and Ezio are equal strength is just silly.

Zelda was pretty clearly meant to steamroll this contest right from the jump, and if it wasn't for Nintendo fatigue by the end she would have made the final. That's how insane this was. More on that later.

Are you people insane? I hope this contest has taught you all a very valuable lesson: Reddit traffic does not matter to the extent you all seem to think it does. League of Legends was clearly a flash in the pan and only worked because back in 2013 GameFAQs was still relevant enough to catch rallies. Now? This site is dead and reddit doesn't care. I hope people have learned that, especially the former. GameFAQs, the site we used to all like, is done. I don't care what BS Allen and CBS feed you people; I'm a big contributor and I see the page hits on my stuff. Don't fall for it.

I actually picked Aloy to win this match because I just knew D.Va would be garbage. Turns out only having 19 people play your game doesn't win you polls. But even then, as a heavy favorite D.Va went out there and just crapped the bed. She was over 60% early, looked good for about 15 minutes, and then puked everywhere. Losing 7% when you start at 60% is not easy to do -- it's much harder than, say, starting at 85% and dropping to 78 -- and it got so bad for D.Va that she badly lost the morning vote. We had very few trends this contest, but D.Va had a 1750 vote overnight lead get chopped down to 1400 at one point. She would recover the votes as the day went on, but the damage to her candidacy was over. This was a bad match for her, and it showed that outside of Blizzard fans actually caring about something without having to be bribed to care (shout out to neonreaper for calling this one out, too), D.Va was done.

Which was fantastic. Blizzard is complete and total garbage, and has been since the second Activision took them ov-- errrrr, merged with them.

What kind of game even is The Last of Us, anyway? I have the PS3 version sitting right next to me.

A kind of gritty survival action game set in a post apocalyptic world with a deadly virus which turns people into deadly infected carriers (more deadly the longer they've had it). Therefore overwhelming power is used to keep people quarantined. Joel and Ellie scavenge supplies and weapons to eke through encounters and survive. More serious than RE4 but not entirely dissimilar. Very strong writing and characterisation (though people will debate e.g. the ending). Best played in long sittings I would suggest - can easily be knocked out out in 2-3 days. The follow up DLC might have gone a bit SJW for your tastes but the original is uncompromising.

Of course Capcom caved, and made a bad game even worse before it even happened. For the unaware, RE5 takes place in Africa and SJWs were very happy to virtue signal about how killing black people zombies is racist, even though the series has had people of every race as zombies forever. Anyway, to the point. This was a reasonably debated match, with 35% of gurus picking Shovel Knight to win. The logic for Toa-- errrrr, Captain Toad supporters was easy. "When in doubt, pick Nintendo."

But most people reading this know that already. What most people don't know is Nick can steal the whole f'n show Rob Van Dam style whenever he wants. Captain Toad wasn't only going to win this match, oh no. Link vs Cloud? Captain Toad. Picsmith controversy? Captain Toad. 2018 midterms? Captain Toad. A fix for climate change? Captain Toad. An answer to how the police treat black men or how we can get California to stop lightning on fire every autumn? Yep, Captain Toad. Stormy Daniels telling us what Donald Trump looks like naked? Captain Toad rSFF, baby. By the time Nick was done hyping up the Cap, I was afraid to put mushrooms on my chicken because I felt like the cure for cancer was in there and I should be donating all my food to the local kitchen for the homeless or something.

Nick was right, too, and it always feels good to say that because I love the guy. Shovel Knight clearly got bracket votes early even in the face of the pro-Toad board votes, and this match was in doubt for about an hour. But once that hour was up, Toad took off and easily put things away.

I legitimately want to know this: what is Shovel Knight and is it any good? All this public backing has me intrigued. I ignore most indie type games, but this one seems to having staying power for whatever reason.

Based on all that, I was promised another meme run and Waluigi rode his Smash Bros snub all the way up to being a 2 seed. Well hey now, before this contest only one 2 seed had ever lost to a 15, Square has looked terrible, Nintendo is boss, and Waluigi was supposed to have all the momentum in the world to go on a deep joke run. Aeris was a very winnable match to start with, right?

This match was close for about 5 minutes thanks to bracket votes and Board 8 meme anti-voters. Then the second update kicked in and Aeris just rolled this match. Nothing against the early voters and their funny contest trends, truly, I find those early numbers hilarious, but I think we've proven that those early votes largely don't matter. But that's a different conversation for a different match.

This can very easily be summed up as Waluigi being one of the most overrated, overhyped characters in gaming history. Not only in contests. In all of gaming. Who gives a rip if he's Character #97 in Smash Bros or not? I wouldn't complain if he got in, but I'm not literally crying he's out like some people. If I didn't already know people were serious about liking the dude, I would assume this was some TWEWY-level mass practical joke. Waluigi crapped the bed in a winnable match in a Nintendo dominant environment. I've seen all I need to see. The dude sucks.

I know I'm being hard on the dude, but the entire list of characters that have lost as 2 seeds to 15s is Nathan Drake, Kazuma Kiryu, Waluigi, and Ren Amamiya. When you're a 1 or 2 seed, there is a different standard. Waluigi does not live up to it. Period.

To be fair to Waluigi (admittedly I'm too lazy to re-look at the bracket), I'm pretty sure Aeris would've taken out every main bracket 2 seed other than Mega Man X.

The best 2 seed upset is Chief vs. Sub-Zero. Granted, it was somewhat artificial due to the Female bracket, but it's still great.

I will never, ever, ever call her "Aerith". I in no way care why I'm supposed to and never will. Stop asking. I will continue naming pages on the wiki "Aeris" until the day these contests die, and if they continue after my death I might even put it into my will that whoever I pass this on to should keep that tradition going. I am only partially kidding on that last point. "Aerith" can go off and die for all I care.
