What the hell, that whole eugenics and genetic modification line was great and was a fundamental shift in his character. It was also a sweet episode. Him and Miles and him and Garak were great to watch, they had wonderful interactions. And Bashier started as a care-free frontier doctor wanting to make a name for himself to a grizzled perfect specimen as he didn't really have to hide anymore. Nope . At best, it felt like the character got a soft reboot mid show. And no that's not 'development'. At worst, it was just a completely new and different character in the same skin, like HoooSHH! Bloated drama series set in Trek universe that only started getting good towards the end of S3. Everything before that was a sleeping pill, irrelevant how well it is written. Yes, Sisko first black lead character, point noted and points given. But for every Sisko and Garak you have 2 Bashirs, Nogs, Dax's, o'Briens and yes, even Odo Also, pale moonlight was an outlier. No way was or is it representative of the quality of the average DS9 episode. Not even close.
