I remember hearing people say this and agreeing. I think it was just so different, my brain was just like "Nah". I got used to it, now seeing what things used to look feels like being in an antique store

I think they might be referring to the refresh rate. I remember it did look different, but not unreal. It had kind of a soap opera effect if that makes sense.

This. It fucked with me hardcore because our first tv with it was the big living room tv. I remember I really did not like it and didn't make the transition until PS4 because my CRT didn't have the HDMI needed to plug it up in my room.

God I hate motion smoothing. I cant believe there are apparently enough people out there who like it that its a thing that even still exists.

My first experience with HD was Fallout 3 in 2009. SDTV was too hard to play it on due to the small text, so I went and bought an HD monitor (pretty decent Dell 23" for just under $200 IIRC).

I gotta admit, the jump was pretty unreal at the time.

I remember the first thing I watched in HD was the MLB All-Star game, and I was in awe of how green the grass looked compared to how I was used to it looking.
