The British pronounce a lot of French words wrong.

I think it's done deliberately to piss them off

Beauchamp really annoys me. It's an easy French pronunciation, it's spelled correctly like it would be in French instead of butchered like a lot of loan words, yet some Brits hundreds of years ago decided it should be said "beecham."

Anyway, the topic is pretty ironic since English is not a phonetic language.

For example, Ironic is pronounced Eye-ronic instead of "eeroneec"

Its probably more accurate to title it words that arent pronounced the way you would assume them to be given their spelling and your understanding of the rules of your language.

Cao Cao and Genghis Khan arent English names either but they are their English approximations, so at a glance youd think Cao Cao is Cow Cow, when its actually Tsao Tsao, and Genghis Khan if I recall is closer to Chingiss Han, though Im not super confident on that.

Yup.
English speaker usually assume Cao is pronounced with hard C, and people made joke of Cao Pi's name because of it.

I still think "choir" is one of the most counterintuitive words of the English language.
One might easily think it's the same as "chair", just with the vowel being an "oi" sound of sorts.
But no, it's pronounced "kvai-er".

I dont read that as having a silent letter.

This might just be an Australian thing but there are some words we "skip" certain syllables or sounds in when speaking. "Often" as "offen" is a common one, and we tend to pronounce the 't' at the end of contractions like won't/don't silently - not quite "wone" but not far off it. However, if it's the last word in the sentence, we pronounce the 't'. I know I worded that very poorly but hopefully you get what I mean. More egregiously we're cheeky enough to say "forehead" as "forrid."

Another word I see pronounced two different ways is appreciate. Us commoners usually say "app-ree-shee-ate," while I often hear English teachers pronounce it "app-ree-see-ate," usually speaking a little slower.

I realize I worded that last post like a botched abortion so I'll try and rephrase.

In Australia we often drop the 't' at the end of contractions like won't/don't/can't but otherwise pronounce the word as normal. It's only when it's the end of a sentence that we're inclined to say it in full.

Also, to the confusion of a German acquaintance of mine, we pronounce "favor" as "fayva," like we're half-assing the second syllable. Whereas I assume in Europe it's pronounced "fay-vore." Could also be an accent thing...
