Uhh, cops shouldn't be thrown in jail for just responding to a false report. Maybe the one dude who killed that guy should be thrown in jail for killing that guy, but that's a different story.

The fault lies entirely with the swatter. If someone gets injured, the fault of the injury lies with the officer for not making a proper assessment of the situation but he's not at fault for showing up.

The FDA serves as an oversight. For experimental procedures, you should be required to meet some basic testing standards like clinical animal testing and generally prove that there is a reason to believe the treatment has at least a small chance of success.

I agree with blocking the legislation. Experimental treatments should still be FDA approved for experimental purposes.

Without it, you'd end up with scenarios like this:

Big Pharma: "Try this experimental treatment to cure your cancer."
Patient: "It's a lemon."
BP: "It's experimental."
Patient: "Well okay."
BP: "Here is your bill for $8000"
Patient: "What? $8000 for a lemon!?"
Patient: *dies from cancer*
BP: "Oh well. Experiment was a failure."

Why would you think this? Did Republicans taking both houses and the presidency cause a wave of dems to "change their allegiance"? Who is sitting there going "well, I'm against <policy>, but they're winning a bunch of seats so I guess fuck my personal principles"?

Yes.

99.9999% of people will never hack your online accounts, yet software vulnerabilities that allow the hacking in the first place are still treated as problems and addressed.

Guns are the vector for mass shooting. Just because most people won't make use of that vector doesn't mean the vector doesn't enable it to happen at all.

It's a special election in the 18th congressional district in PA for a House seat that will be up for grabs again in November

So win or lose, this is ultimately pointless until November where it actually matters? Why are people hype for this? If a Dem wins they'll do what they did when Jones won and try their best to make sure it doesn't ever happen again, if a Rep wins it's business as usual with some trolling of dems about the blue wave thrown in.
