"A teacher who also serves as a reserve police officer accidentally fired a gun"

And no one had serious injuries.

This is really your best argument against having some armed school staff? I don't care for the idea of arming school staff, but holy FUCK is this argument bad. But then again, your last topic on gun control was unbelievably weak as well so I guess this is normal.

Why is anyone getting injured at all because of a gun that shouldn't have been on the teacher?

and this was in a class that was supposed to prepare students to be police officers by a reserve police officer. imagine what's going to happen when regular teachers bring them.

There are already a ton of schools that have armed police officers in them. This teacher was a reserve police officer. It's a freak accident, and could've happened in any public setting that has armed personnel there. It's not a good argument against having armed personnel in a public setting, since accidents can always happen. This is so uncommon that it's insane to project it across the entire school system as if it's a common occurrence.

Like, look at TC's topic title. It's obvious that this is just a disingenuous shit-topic designed to troll via a generalization about all armed personnel.

Even though some reserve officer in California of all places fucking up says nothing at all about the system at large.

Arming civilian teachers who are less experienced with firearms than the teacher in the article mentioned will definitely make this type of event more common.

So if an armed teacher stopped or deterred a shooter, would you use that one specific case to push the opposite narrative or are you just doing that with this because it suits your position?

armed shooters at schools are already rare and we're not about to actively engage in legislation to make them more common.

We are taking this rare event and making it more common.

That's why they should be trained and re-certified regularly if they're armed. Rather than allowed to become rusty like some old-ass reserve officer in California of all places.

There's examples like that already but he didn't bother to make a topic. And in his previous topic about gun control, he was literally arguing that it's the gun that causes mass shootings. I'm not even fucking making that up. He was asking for proof that it's not the guns, and when people were pointing out how 99.9999% of gun owners will never go on a shooting spree he was denying that it's proof.

Yes.

Like, look at it this way.

99.9999% of people will never hack your online accounts, yet software vulnerabilities that allow the hacking in the first place are still treated as problems and addressed.

Guns are the vector for mass shooting. Just because most people won't make use of that vector doesn't mean the vector doesn't enable it to happen at all.

the main problem is someday a teacher might shoot on purpose. kids can really get on teacher's nerves. I don't know if it's smart to give a gun to someone surrounded by rowdy kids all day

They're repeating the same argument because they have no other arguments and cannot understand why "most people won't do XYZ" isn't actually addressing the point of contention.

The teacher was about to use the gun for a demonstration about how to disarm someone, according to Gonzales.

Why? Why would you need to show a bunch of kids how to disarm a person with a gun? It's not a toy, and this is probably the exact type of person that doesn't need a gun.

If you want to carry a gun because it's your right, then great. It is not, however, something that you casually pull out and show off. A gun needs to be in its holster at all times unless it's about to be used. If you can't abide by such a practical and common sense notion, then you have no business carrying one.

And there's a reason they make training guns, because of this moron, right here.
