But here is the problem with that assessment. It doesn't actually treat itself like a joke. Kung Fury is a movie about Norse Gods and aliens, and treats itself like a joke, and does it well. Thor Ragnarok sets the stage for the serious apocalyptic movie and then ruins the mood by having the characters just not care about anything that happens in the movie. Like you can't tell me there isn't a huge difference between the tone of the trailer and the actual movie. Here, take a look.  The trailer is almost completely lacking in humor beyond the Hulk/Thor conversation towards the end. It gives you literally zero indication that you were walking into essentially comedy movie. Either your assessment that this movie was not intended to be dramatic is wrong, or we're just being lied to. And I don't think the movie sucks, I just think it's overrated for the same reasons as Unfair. --- |

This typically is most significant when the evidence against them amounts to things like DNA, fingerprints, etc. This isn't the case with this shooter. The evidence against him is insurmountable. DNA can wind up in all sorts of places and fingerprints aren't as reliable a means of identification that most people think they are. If there is even a miniscule chance the evidence is wrong death penalty is an extremely long procedure. Otherwise you basically get an Express lane to the injection bed. --- |
