It's not a bad movie like suicide squad but it's only okay imo

It's way too silly to the extent where nothing matters.

Sure it's great memebait but people now are still talking about Superman 2, The Dark Knight and The Avengers. In 3 years no one will talk about it remember anything from Thor 3.

It's such a meaninglessness popcorn flick which is fine but it's weird people are acting like it is a ground-breaking classic.

It reminds me of someone claiming a Big Mac is the tastiest burger of all time and justifying it by saying McDonald's makes money

I thought that it was good, as an homage to those 80s power metal fantasy movies, but it was kinda hard for me to take seriously because of all the humor, and Kate Blanchett wasn't as threatening as a villain, IMO

I thought it was pretty good. Probably won't make my top 5 comic book movies but the writing and pacing of the humor was easily some of the best in the MCU

Superman 2 WAS silly but still had plot elements that mattered, Batman Begins and Dark Knight were ridiculous but still had serious reflections on humanity.

Avengers kept the silliness and comedy but still had drama and moments that mattered. There was no point in Thor 3 were anyone at any time acted like anything whatsoever mattered.

Jokes are fine, but when they pop up in every potentially serious moment they start to become too much. And Korg was what pushed it over the line IMO.

it was awesome and was serious when it needed to be.

the emo dark shit with sprinkles of humor thrown in from the first 2 movies took the franchise nowhere.

He definitely has serious stories and Ragnarok did overblow it, but he definitely is just having fun most of the time, just hanging with the warriors three and all that.

Yet characters are still tossing out jokes at that point. The mood shouldn't have been so lighthearted after what had just happened. But since they're not human its totally appropriate.

No you didn't, perhaps a better paraphrasing here of your original assessment is "I am not surprised that a movie about Norse Gods and Aliens treats itself like a joke."

But here is the problem with that assessment. It doesn't actually treat itself like a joke. Kung Fury is a movie about Norse Gods and aliens, and treats itself like a joke, and does it well.

Thor Ragnarok sets the stage for the serious apocalyptic movie and then ruins the mood by having the characters just not care about anything that happens in the movie.

Like you can't tell me there isn't a huge difference between the tone of the trailer and the actual movie.

The trailer is almost completely lacking in humor beyond the Hulk/Thor conversation towards the end. It gives you literally zero indication that you were walking into essentially comedy movie.

Either your assessment that this movie was not intended to be dramatic is wrong, or we're just being lied to.

And I don't think the movie sucks, I just think it's overrated for the same reasons as Unfair.

I loved the comedic tone of Ragnarok. The more serious tones of the first 2 Thors were alright, but the movies weren't memorable. Ragnarok is the funniest MCU film and the fact that they embraced it made the film very good.

Literally jumping from one extreme to another. I'm saying that with inherently goofy characters like Thor and Hulk, they hit the balance just right.
