Nope. I usually go barefoot in my own home.

In others', though, I often have no choice but to wear shoes, unless someone living there is willing to help me take them off and put them back on again later; I can't bend forward far enough to remove or don shoes I can't slip into and out of.

Kid shouldn't have beaked off (though teens do that all the time), definitely should not have thrown a basketball at the guy. The teacher should have had enough self control not to escalate and absolutely should not have thrown the first punch - that part's simply inexcusable.

From a pure legal standpoint, the teacher definitely committed assault, and you could make a pretty good case for bringing the kid up on charges too for throwing the basketball. I'd probably split the blame 60/40 with the greater share going to the teacher. Kids can be infuriating little shits at times, but if you're an adult you absolutely have to have enough self control not to haul off and punch one of them, especially if you're an educator or other caregiver.

PMSL. No. I've never in all my life met anybody who could be called an incel who remotely approached the left side of the political spectrum.

I've met a handful of ableist or racist assholes who would be otherwise left-wing, but generally I find incels and RWers tend to share the same "I'm all right Jack f*** everybody else, if they can't take my hateful jokes they have no sense of humour" kind of crap.

LWers don't blame society instead of themselves for crap. That's a heavily RW attitude, actually, which is why they assume LWers do it the same way. In actual fact, most LWers will point out society's flaws, but they usually admit that they're not blameless either, and say that the problems are something everybody should be concerned with. So they blame society as well as themselves, nine times out of ten. The "me first everyone else last" types don't like that. Not one bit.

I tend more toward gothic & symphonic/melodic metal, tbh. Seeing Within Temptation again in November, and the last metal gig I was at before that was Lacuna Coil's 20th anniversary special in London back in January - the one they filmed for the DVD they're releasing in a couple of months.

I don't really get the large percentage that says they will never buy any DLC.

Yeah I don't think worthwhile dlc is bad. Obvious dlc that is done wrong and is pretty short or has no meat to add to a story is not what I want as dlc. Expansions is something I definitely look forward to instead of small pieces.

I actually usually hear people complain the other way. Normally, people don't want more of the story locked behind a paywall... Unless it's more story, but story that is not needed to feel like the game is complete. If that makes sense...

P
It does make sense. Parts of the story that are required for completion of the main plot should never be DLC, but I like the occasional piece of backstory DLC - like Leliana's Song for Dragon Age: Origins, as just one example.

Goodness knows I wouldn't, nor any non-shaving femme I know. Even many femme people who do shave don't do it for other people or their opinions, but for themselves and their own comfort (comfort also being a reason why I don't; I prefer not to itch or to rip off layers of my skin just to meet somebody else's ideas of how I ought to look).

However, "presenting females" is horrible phrasing no matter what you think, it sounds like something about animal sex

It would have been better phrased as "those presenting as female" or "people presenting as female".

True enough, but it's certainly worlds better than "passing" with all its transphobic baggage!

I forget sometimes whether ignore works both ways as the Facebook blocking function does. Anyone here know?

Anyway... One way or another, though I spent a long time doing little but lurking and voting in PotD, I've been on this site for many, many years - I even remember the old blue layout from before the site was bought by CNET! I believe the first FAQ I came to look up was about Final Fantasy X, when I was trying to figure out how to get the Celestial Weapons. Goodness, that's a long time ago. Nearly half my lifetime, in fact...

In short, my current GFAQs account may date from 2012, but that doesn't default to its being my first account, and that's a silly assumption to make. Besides which, what does longevity of tenure here have to do with one's knowledge of the forums and their people anyway? I know several people who have accounts just to contribute to the site proper and hardly ever bother with any of the forums.

Though the daft assumption does have me wondering now just how many people here are still using the accounts or usernames they began with. Maybe I should start an offshoot thread about it =P

Tl;dr: I've been on the site for about 16 years, so don't even start trying to claim how long you've been a member as relevant, it isn't.

It certainly is. Quite apart from its not being accurate in application to anyone... Besides, the term you chose is more broadly inclusive of those of us here who are female only sometimes, which "female-passing" would not have been. Stick with what you've got, BC, you're doing well enough from where I sit.

As for your ignorant following claim, Chewster, there are more trans people on GFAQs than you realise, and they deserve the same basic level of respect and dignity as anybody else gets around here.

I'm glad you did. Your phrasing works to include those of us who are genderqueer & sometimes feminine as well as anyone who is or permanently identifies as female. Works for me.

As for the shaving issue, I rarely bother where legs are concerned, though that is at least partly because I struggle physically to do it (I can't bend forward past a certain point without my spine starts to try to unhook and my legs go numb).

Anyway, aesthetically, none of my past partners of any gender have minded, and my current gf doesn't worry about it either. Besides which, my dress style tends to long poofy skirts & vintage dresses when I'm femme, and I'm a wheelchair user, so not a lot of people look far enough down to see my legs. =P

I'm not using that phrase in place of an insult, mods, I sincerely believe he has a medical problem affecting his brain's performance.

Honestly, I genuinely believe he may be in the early stages of dementia. His age combined with his poor physical health and his frantic attempts to cover up the latter, plus how often he seems to lose the thread of a speech or conversation... they're all red flags. My stepmother is a carer and has worked with people with dementia quite a lot, and I've seen it happen to several of my elder relatives when they were near the end. Trump has some very concerning symptoms. And while he's always been an arse, his speech wasn't nearly so incoherent 20 years ago.

I'd almost pity him, tbh, if it weren't for the danger he's causing to the entire world by refusing to admit his problems in the position he's in. I'm just glad some of his admin seem to be taking precautions between him and the nuclear football.

"This is totally fake and not real and the New York Times made it up (but also they should hand over their made up source because national security!)"

What really gets me about that piece of monumental stupidity is his total disregard of the existence and intention of the 1st Amendment. I mean, honestly... it's the very first part of the US Constitution: that the government does not have the right to shut down people speaking out who disagree with it or its actions, nor do individuals representing that government. Even whistle-blowers from inside their own administration have legally guaranteed freedom of speech. It's like he's never even heard of "freedom of the press" or "free speech" - but then, who believes he knows what they mean anyway?

P.S. How many Americans here are aware that "trump" in the UK has been, for decades at least, childhood slang for "fart"?

Me and a friend of mine rocked a Mortal Kombat marathon for 3 straight days, Thursday night to Sunday night. But I used to stay up for a week+ pretty regularly as a child. Now I'm old and if I stay up past 11:00 I'm exhausted for a week lol.

Honestly, if you damaged your capacity for sleep so badly as a kid it's no wonder you tire so much more easily now. Sleep deprivation is a recognised torture technique with good reason - the human mind almost always begins to hallucinate after 4 days without sleep, and it gets worse the longer one stays awake continually. I don't recommend trying it for fun, I really don't. But kids rarely understand the damage it can do, of course...

I was once awake for a week with only six hours of sleep in total, though not gaming, during college. I was hallucinating by the fourth day, as per the "normal" pattern, but I simply could not fall asleep and stay asleep.

Hell, I only managed even those six hours of sleep because my dad mixed Dr Pepper with half a can of cheap lager and made me drink it before putting me to bed (I was 18 or 19 at the time, and that's legal for drinking in my country) - tasted foul, but it did give me a brief respite that I badly needed at the time. By the 7th day I nearly walked into traffic without realising or intending it, so he took me to a doctor and they basically had to drug me to sleep every night for a week to kick my sleeping patterns back to something approaching normal.

CSB, I know. Thought it might be relevant though.

I couldn't possibly do that now, though - I'm a lot less physically healthy than I was at 14, with chronic illness in the mix, and I struggle to stay awake for two hours some days, forget fifty-two. However ... I'm happy remembering I did do it. :)
