| TomNook 04/27/23 7:04:01 AM #25 | Randomness can be fun. Party games can be fun. Don't take my knock on these 10 games equating to me being exclusively on the other spectrum of euro-games. I like a variety of games. I just think people settling for these 10 games are doing a big disservice to themselves, because there are plenty of other light games with minimal rules that you can have fun with. BoardGameGeek also has plenty of random and light games highly ranked. People saying "If you hate Candyland, it means you only love Gloomhaven, and hate simple fun!" sound to me like someone "If you hate Adam Sandler films, it means you only love Ingmar Bergman drama, and hate fun and all comedies!" It doesn't make much sense. --- Bells, bells, bells! |

Because they are all introductory games for kids, and have no real interaction in most cases. Tic Tac Toe is solved, and too basic to not always play it solved. Operation is a simple dexterity game that is hard to lose after playing it once. All of the rest are RNG to different degrees...some to the point where they aren't even a game, because you aren't actually influencing anything. --- Bells, bells, bells! |

I filled up a glass of milk with ice, and another waitress saw me, and was like "ice in milk?" and I was like "Well restaurants always put tons of ice in drinks that nobody ever adds ice to at their house...so yeah?" and she was like "huh, I guess." I know that I must have a really higher threshold for shit / low threshold for entertainment because whenever people complain about them being bad, I just kinda shrug and think I enjoyed it at least.It has to do with the types of films people watch. A lot of modern viewers just watch super hero films and whatever the hottest blockbusters are. They don't really have too high of film standards because their hobbies are dedicated to other things. So they like all of these movies because they land in an easily digestible comfort zone and play out exactly how they expect and want. --- Bells, bells, bells! |
