You don't have Bayo unlocked, Yo? I saw you had like 150 hours in the game so that's pretty shocking! But if you've been playing a ton of online, that would make sense.

If Bayo is still considered topmost tier, I definitely want to get good with her. Ggs, Yo.

Its actually super cruel that the one smash game with good interface is the one thats almost impossible to play with friends

Agreed. Definitely my biggest problems with SSBU are small little quality of life things like that. The most noticeable one to me is that hazardless stages need to be a selectable option along with Battlefield and Omega forms on the stage select screen. Like...I don't usually know if I want to go hazardless until after stage selection (especially when we take turns picking stages when playing with people). My brother picked Magicant once because he thought it looked cool and had never played it, and a quick hazardless toggle would have been so useful there.

hi Smash people

I landed a new job right around when this game came out but finished unlocking everyone last night! Aaaand it doesn't matter because K. Rool is King tier baby, God King tier.

So glad they fixed the quickplay online too in this last patch. God this game's online is surprisingly about perfect -- they just need to add goddamn win-loss and KO/death statistics. But I'm so happy I can finally do 3 stock matches online. 3 stock omega form or 3 stock any stage no items is always good times.

And again the King. The King is just...everything I ever wanted him to be and more.

That is about all. I can pretty much already tell this game's going down as my favorite multiplayer game of all time. Unsurprising, since Smash 4 had that title prior.

but good lord GMUN, how the fuck have you already done all the challenges

I feel like at some point I'm going to sit down to adjust the music for each stage and then TWO HOURS LATER I will finish adjusting the music for each stage

So far my online experience has been almost the exact opposite. Very little lag except in one particular case against a Japanese player (and I don't have a Wired LAN adapter yet). So hopefully you're just getting people with bad connections, unless you're the one with the bad connection.

I fucking love the Battle Arena mode online soooo much too. This online shits all over Smash 4's.

I haven't even fucked with Adventure Mode yet but this new Classic is the goddamn best. I started with Zelda (who is seemingly god tier now and actually a joy to play) and when Ganondorf transformed into Ganon in the final battle I lost my goddamn shit. And I already knew Ganon was in the game too. It was still so epic. Does anyone know what stage that second part of the fight takes place in? Because it literally perfectly recreates the final fight from Ocarina of Time.

I did Mario's next and his theme of fighting all the most iconic Nintendo characters was just the best. Even in Classic every fight feels rather unique. And holy shit, low-key the most unexpectedly wonderful part of this whole game is computers actually being both intelligent and challenging now. No more just walking into charged smashes! They legit respond to move spams and everything...it's amazing.

In general, I'm finding characters I never liked playing in Smash before to be so damn fun. I can finally rep Metroid and get good with Samus now. Life is good. And I need sleep.

Random aside: I always wanted a more traditional "endgame" style dungeon too, ala Ganon's Tower in Wind Waker. I was all excited to visit the Sealed Grounds in the past my first time through, only to be a little let down that it was just an immediate face off with the final boss. A few puzzley rooms, some bosses back to back (Phantom Demise anyone?), and just an epic setting leading up to the final boss would go so much to make the endgame more memorable for me.

Don't get me wrong. Sky Keep is great, but nothing has ever topped Wind Waker's endgame for me and I'd love to see something structurally similar.

those simple problems like describing every new item you gain in the collectibles list per every play session.

I kind of like this, weirdly enough. It's not near as bad as TP (the original) reminding you what fucking rupees are. At least those materials items are strange, and there are so many kinds of them that those reminders never bothered me. It's definitely something they'd clean up in the remake anyway.

The larger problems with Skyward Sword that need fixing are:

- Fi's absurd overtalkativeness/overguidance, as GMUN pointed out
- The empty sky
- Reoccurring bosses, specifically The Imprisoned fight

Fi is an incredibly easy fix. The other two would take some work, but if they put in the extra effort they're more than doable.

Improving the sky would require actual new content: fill it with more islands and more meaningful places to visit. Wind Waker struck such a great balance between the vast emptiness of its sea and the interesting places to explore within that sea; take a page from it. I think it would also be really cool to get more little holes in the sky that connect to the surface and to eventually be able to get all the areas to interconnect with one another. As for the reoccurring Imprisoned fight, my solution is as follows: Take out Imprisoned 2 altogether. Have players fight Imprisoned 1, then 3, then make the actual third fight something entirely original and new. Ghirahim didn't really have this problem since his third fight was entirely unique, but they should still maybe give him some more unique attacks during his second fight. To be even more greedy, I always wanted a third phase in the Demise battle as well. Such a good fight but it's so ridiculously short.

Skyward Sword is already my favorite Zelda, warts and all, but damn how they could clean it up and make it so much better still. I highly doubt Aonuma would tease it on the Switch unless it's happening, so my mind has been going wild with the possibilities for a couple days now.

And awww yeah, made it to the Ebot's Rock dungeon. Just so happened to go right to Thamasa very shortly after equipping Strago. I honestly had no clue where I was supposed to go, I just got lucky. So am I, uh, supposed to only have Strago for this dungeon in order to find this monster? That's what Strago said, but I walked inside with a full party.

If I need to have just Strago, I may want to do some grinding at the good old dino forest. He's a paltry level 43... Sabin is level 80 now! Poor Strago.

Man, wish I had gotten FFVI Advance. Would have loved all this other content and that post-eight dragons dungeon especially. That was the exact reward I was hoping for. But I suppose it was cool to play this in the classic localization, even though I'm assuming the script is better in FFVIA since it's at the very least more accurate.

Hmm, I still have my copy of FFV Advance. I wonder if I should give that another go. My GBA SP broke forever ago, but I do have my original DS that I can play it on. It's...actually also semi-broken, though I don't think the bottom screen is messed up at all. Or I could just buy another GBA SP. I need to do that anyway because I still have my collection of original Game Boy/Game Boy Color games and no system that can play them anymore.

I appreciated Rockstar trying to tell a more meaningful story for the time, but they didn't need to strip the game of all of its fun in the process.

Even Star Fox Zero I ended up pretty much loving, despite literally hating it for the first five or so hours. So glad I powered through though and mastered the controls, because I low-key think it might be the best Star Fox once that hurdle is conquered.

hey it's the other way to get the best weapon in the game and you gotta steal it from the final boss fight!

But then how do you save the game after stealing the weapon? I imagine you can't warp out of the final boss, right?

I've been playing more of the game today, but don't really have too much to update on. Was just doing some more Colosseum battling/item exchanging. And then I found out there was a second Aegis shield in the final dungeon, so I went exploring all over that dungeon and finally found it. Aside from that, just back backtracking to various other dungeons with a Moogle Charm equipped to see if I can find any other treasures. I'm about to put Strago in my party now and do some more exploring.

So I'm thinking the only major thing I have left to do is find this final dungeon and maybe do some more Colosseum battling. I am about fully done with this game. I'm sure I'll play the final boss once more (again, I have a save state right there so I doubt I'll actually replay that whole dungeon) just to see that great ending again. But otherwise, I have greatly enjoyed this wonderful game and am about ready to move on.

Alright, this will likely be one of my last updates!

Finished exploring the Ancient Castle last night and got all the way to the dragon. Decided to save state there late last night, because I'd been playing forever and figured I'd leave off at a cool moment. So yeah, I was excited to pick right back up at the dragon today. Fighting at this point is just me mashing A and using the fight command every time, because I'm so ridiculously powerful now, so the battle of course lasted a whole minute. (I generally just use Mog's Moogle Charm now that battling is kind of pointless.) So I beat my eighth and final dragon and I get a message saying "Dragon Seal broken" and the Esper, Crusader, is all mine! Hmmm, I'm wondering: is that dragon seal broken message implying that there's somewhere new on the map I can get to? Or is that Esper my only reward? I'm guessing it's just the Esper.

I also picked up the Odin Esper there and it quickly turned into Raiden after talking to the Queen who had been turned into stone. Dang, I should have checked out the Odin summon while I had the chance! But to be honest, there's probably more than a few summons I haven't even seen anyway just because I barely use them.

Oh, and did I mention how lucky I got hitting that switch in the big open throne room of the castle? Like, damn, I just randomly happened to be mashing the A button and hit an invisible switch. These switches, which appear to have no environmental clues whatsoever, are pretty silly. I mean...the one for the final Edgar Tool was fine, but this one is what opened up the area to the dragon and the queen right? Seems a bit more essential.

MalcolmMasher posted...
Speaking of which, there's a secret passage in a building in Mobliz where Terra (and Katarin) are hiding. I think Duane clues you in to the location? But it's not like there's much left of Mobliz to search.

I don't remember any such clue, but there's a chance I just wasn't paying attention when he told me. Anyway, heeding your advice, I basically just walked into every possible wall that I could and finally found it. Ugh, that was so ridiculous. But yay, Terra and Duane are here!

Duane apologizes to his preggo wife for being a terrible husband, they make up, and Phunbaba suddenly comes attacking Mobliz once again. Terra says she's afraid to fight, so my party gets to work without her. Very quickly, Phunbaba blows half of my party away and Terra shows up in her Esper form. Again, the boss is a joke and I mop the floor with him. The children all stare at Terra in her Esper form, calling her a "monster" and clearly fearing her. Finally, one child recognizes her and they all gather around her in a sweet little moment of acceptance. Yay, Terra is finally in my party again. I think she was Lv. 53 when I got her, so not quite as awful as I was expecting.

So yeah, with Locke in the party and my Moogle Charm equipped, I made my way to every locked door I could.

So the big question here is Ragnarok: Esper or Sword? I chose the Esper, but I created a save state there anyway if I ever wanted to check out the sword (assuming there isn't another way to get one). But since then, I've done a little bit of grinding so I doubt I will bother going back.

Also found a Cursed Shield there and the NPC tells me how powerful it would be if I could cure it of its curse. Hmmm, something to ponder. And I think that was about all I found at Narshe, Double-checked to make sure I opened every possible door and high-tailed it outta there.

And the Figaro Castle quest I did wayyyyy farther back than that and definitely included it in an update.

Never mind on this! Thanks for the suggestion. I checked this out, to be sure there wasn't anything to this, and it indeed looks like there was. I'm pretty sure this is different anyway. Time to explore this basement.

did I just say Sabin's vigor was 78 because that shit is 80 now. I've just kept the Bismark Esper equipped to him for a long ass time now. and Edgar's magic power is 81 thanks to doing the same thing, though equipping the Tritoch Esper to him in this case

Awww yeah, thanks to grinding more in the dino forest, this time with 4 Exp. boosters, Sabin has become my first level 70 character! (Sorry, Celes.) And I also learned that final Blitz - Bum Rush, baby. The funny thing is....Bum Rush is actually weaker than my regular fighting attack. Thanks to having a Genji Glove equipped and his insane Vigor (78) and Battle Power (455), I do 11k+ damage with his regular attack. So yeah, sorry Bum Rush but you appear to be useless to me! I'm also at about 51 hours of playtime now.

How come? I thought returning to Mobliz and talking to Terra and the people there were enough to bring Phunbaba back.

Anyway, two visits you could do: Opera House, and Figaro Castle (in the latter, ask the engineer to dive the castle, and when it stalls, go inspect the basement).

I think I already did both these quests. The Opera House thing is just the dragon, right? I did that a while back. I think it was like the first thing I did after I beat the game. My bad if I never updated about it! And the Figaro Castle quest I did wayyyyy farther back than that and definitely included it in an update.
